AVB set up Spurs up very well at the start. He would have been a great fit for the Liverpool job. Read all about it here

Well with a midfield of Spearing and Adam tonight's match result would probably have been even worse than last years game at WHL.

I hope Allen isn't regressing to the mean, but he's not reproducing his early season form at present.

He just looked wiped out in my eyes. I doubt he will ever have been asked in his career to date to put in the kind of physical shift that's being required of him in his current role for such a sustained period of time. I worry that such a sustained period in his current role is dulling his senses in terms of his brightness on the ball when we finally get him playing further forward. Couple of times in good areas he choose not to try the more difficult ball which would have slipped us in behind.

We're worse compared to last season imo. Brendan Rodgers is playing Gerrard where he is. Brendan Rodgers is playing Downing at left back. Brendan Rodgers is playing Sterling week in, week out to the point where he now looks jaded. Brendan Rodgers was playing Borrini out wide.

But I'm sure he'll have a mega press conference this week!

Anyway, I'll let the usual suspects rush to the defense and talk about unbeaten runs, the future and all the progress we're actually making somehow. The unfortunate thing is that we've more of this debacle to endure. The results aren't dreadful enough just yet for us to be released from this nonsense.

what would you do ? It's rank we are not getting results, it's rank that we are sometimes playin well but not getting the points... with the team we have what would you do? What can Rodgers do? I don't think he has the players imo...

we don't have enough attacking quality. Up front tonight, Suarez is world class, Raheem is hit and miss but only 17, and tbh I thought Enrique was our best player tonight but he is a full back...

we need money invested in the team and money spent on quality, everyone we bring in has to work. it's not that easy though.

Enrique was our best player tonight if you ask me

I'm not sure what people want, its gonna take us a while to get back and i don't think Rodgers should get the full blame on this because of the shíte we bought over the last couple of years

The problem now is we have 16 points and according to our manager we have been excellent in every game
What's gonna happen when we start playing bad!!!

Game was won/lost in midfield. I have been pretty vocal in my defence of BR (particularly towards Daithijjj and Lloyd), but Rodgers needs to now put his balls on the line and make changes to the team. Playing players out if position is one thing, but not making the changes when needed is just as bad.
Another game has passed and Sahin has not gotten any game time. That's 3 on the spin for Sahin stuck on the bench. Allen & Sterling need a rest. Spurs were all over the shop and were there for the taking. I guarantee you that United would have won that game with the score line 2-1.
The next month is make or break for rodgers. It's put up or shut up.

Yeah but all except the top 2 have dropped massive points as well. Ignoring WBA Liverpool are only a point or 2 further from the CL places than the same time last season and that was with Lucas.

We were 1.70ppg to this point of last season. WE were doing better. This team is nowhere near producing 2ppg form, and hasn't looked near it since the first 11 months of 2011.

If Kenny had stayed, 4th would have been the target. It was the target at the start of last season. Lowered expectations it seems.

Now, like last season after the Arsenal home defeat, in my opinion the focus should shift primarily to our remaining Cup participation. League is over, we'll be mid table.

After spending the guts of 100 million it was only right that 4th was the target.

But as we all know, that 100 million was wasted on players that simply weren't good enough.

Of course 4th wasn't the target after that.

    Why are we ?

I think we are. We are 12th so I can't absolutely prove we are not but I'm entitled to that view. Just like I believe WBA are worse than 3rd.

Leaving aside the fact that we were blatantly robbed of 2 points (Everton) and threw away 2 more (City) - I think our performances have been very good at times and we will reap the rewards of that between now and Christmas with improved results. At least I hope we do.

Still a fair few people continuing to look in the wrong places for answers, its found in Comolli, the people who hired him, open letters to fans apologising and the lack of any help for Suarez up front. That's where questions should be put.

    But we knew that already?....right?......good.

fair enough and cheers for the reply.

I just think the opposite. I think Suarez has hit a purple patch which has kept us out of the bottom 5. If anything Rodgers (and the owners) should be kissing the fellas feet cause the absolute fücking wafer thin squad they left us with would be showing them as being what they truly are....clueless.

Why do people keep trying to put off his return? He's ready by every account so play him. Soton are not Stoke.

Reina has gone like grobelar did was outstanding for years with the rare moment of madness, then turned in to a liability
Hope he's not taking backhanders as well

A team's points in isolation isn't what decides league position as you well know. I'm a lot more worried about Liverpool than I was last season.

just saw this on RAWK and there is an element of truth to it

"we're always waiting for something. As you said, "wait for January", "wait for Lucas", "wait for this, wait for that"...

    Waiting for Godot FC"

I am very annoyed by the result tonight because I know it will have season long consequences, as i said earlier there are certain games that seasons turn on and i think that was one of them

my worry is that rodgers will continue to deliver all the feelgood propoganda, so much so that the fans will be duped into thinking midtable is acceptable

my further worry is we will be continuing to wait and wait and wait for success as more midtable seasons follow as rodgers continues to bang on about long-term goals until 3 or 4 years down the line we are in exactly the same position

something needs to change, either the management improves the results of the team drastically or fsg make big money available - if neither of those things happen then liverpool will continue their descent to midtable team status and fsg and rodgers will have failed us - at the moment they are failing us

I know this, but we aren't maximizing the resources on our books at present. Andy Carroll would be handy to have around. We're certainly gaining nothing by having him down in London. I don't see us doing much in the January window, but team affairs are not being run optimally right now either.

But a team's points in isolation is the barometer for judging their progression or regression. And if you're more worried about us this year than last you aren't living in the real world to be frank. We're nowhere near you this season.

He lost the head with them once AFAIR, plenty of platitudes otherwise.

Fecking joke, Carroll out on loan, Downing soon too bye the looks of it, Henderson matches Spearing for effort and that's about it, Enrique as a winger who'll peter out soon enough, what a joke of a manager, a fecking jokeshop.

You should know all about relegation battles. Kenny's team would have been relegated on the second half of the season form.

    Fecking jokers.

Kenny's time is starting to look like Sounness time.

    Tick, tock...tick, tock...

This run of poor "form" and general discomfort in his performances grows ever longer.

You cant really blame Rodgers for having a wafer thin squad. Owners will have a lot of questions asked of them come January.

From here until the United game we have very winnable games. Its at the end of this when we can really start judging Rodgers.

I still feel some fans think we should be challenging for fourth but sadly we are a long way off. Take one look at our squad compared to others.

Tactically astute? Come on . . . they were giving us numerous chances and creating none. That's tactical suicide more than tactically astute.

I already pointed out that they didn't do it well. It's not something that English teams in general ever try to do or at least do effectively. If you are good with the ball ala Swansea though then with a two goal lead playing that way is pretty much game over for the opposition. Death by football I think our manager calls it only you don't even need to score. Twas funny though hearing the crowd get on Spurs case for slowing the game down, passing it around in their own half even though they were two goals up at the time :pac:

Good game to use him then, anyway if Lucas on means Allen and Gerrard can get further up the pitch he should be on.
