We should just play the reserves against southampton?

No more fücking rhetoric please from Rodgers etc playing players out of position cost us tonight. Nothing else.

To hell with plaudits, moral victories and good performances. 3 points is King no matter how they arrive.

    Arrgghhhhh

    Very frustrating.

Spurs rarely troubled us after that initial Bale run. Most of their efforts were long shots and we created a lot more.

No excuses though, we should have scored another goal, and didn't.

There was no simple selection in the fullback positions.

    Wisdom against Bale?
Enrique has been in great form in attack. Do we move him back and disrupt that momentum?
    Robinson? No chance.

When Rodgers look at his opposition coach you can see why he won't drop Gerrard, but Jesus at least push him up into the top 3.

Think it might be time to give Sterling a rest.

Gerrard has to be dropped. A passage of play in the final minute of injury time summed up his contribution, as Johnson went forward Gerrard ambled into his path and kicked the ball off his toe towards Enrique, giving it away.

Smiling and joking with Lennon at the final whistle too pissed me off. I know he cares about the club but christ hes should be right annoyed we dropped points in a match we should have got something out of. More shots overall but we just (similar to last year) gave up the pressure once we kept missing. Serious lack of self belief and composure especially in attack

I guarantee you Robinson would not have let his man get wrong side of him like Downing.

It was time to rest him last week!

You could have easily gone with three at the back with Enrique and Glen as wing backs. Away from home against Spurs I would have said it was what made most sense given our options.

    Opr

I have been saying for weeks now that won't happen till he signs his new contract as soon as he does he will be dropped rested whatever way you want to put it.

Ok i really like BR, and the way we are playing is nice, all be it a bit toothless, but this Downing at left back and Hendo in MF has to stop now!!!!

Nither of them should ever put on a LFC shirt ever again!

    YNWA

Enrique and Johnson on the left work well. And there is no way Bale would out muscle Wisdom.

Ahh here as much as Downing frustrates me the guy was basically told we have a slot at LB if you want it or feck off.

I am surprised at how positive everyone was with the performance.

For me, it was one of the worst of the season. Until Spurs got the two goal lead and inexplicably decided to just defend, we were being destroyed.

    Played 14; Won 3; Drawn 7; Lost 4; GD 0; Points 16

We're worse compared to last season imo. Brendan Rodgers is playing Gerrard where he is. Brendan Rodgers is playing Downing at left back. Brendan Rodgers is playing Sterling week in, week out to the point where he now looks jaded. Brendan Rodgers was playing Borrini out wide.

But I'm sure he'll have a mega press conference this week!

Anyway, I'll let the usual suspects rush to the defense and talk about unbeaten runs, the future and all the progress we're actually making somehow. The unfortunate thing is that we've more of this debacle to endure. The results aren't dreadful enough just yet for us to be released from this nonsense.

I blame Roy Hodgson for this result

How many times did Spurs actually bother attacking in the second half?

Our system functioned well today, in a way that 3 at the back hasn't for us.

At the end of the day what happened to Downing happens to full backs every week. It's happened to Johnson and Enrique more than once. It's a difficult thing to defend

Rubbish. The best fullbacks in the world lose their men, and I have seen Robinson make plenty of defensive errors at youth level. That's a ridiculous statement

The points actually tell us we are better this season without Lucas than last season without Lucas.

I havent seen tonights game, will catch highlights later but for me his honeymoon with fans is now over, he talked the talk, now its time to walk the walk. December will make or break us this season, all our games in the league from now till the united game on the 13th of january are winnable, may have to punt the udinese game but whatever. Time to dig deep and get on with it

    I agree.

To say Robinson is a reliable option at this level at left back is just daft.

    Wow now hang on.

A left back getting caught wrong side or sliding in with an attacking player say a yard or two out is regular, and hard enough to defend, but ball watching and getting caught wrong side from 5 yards out in unforgivable.
