Why isn't any club open at 4 in the morning?

that is because the 24hr license fee is enormous.. most pubs in the uk can't justify the cost because their max patrons limit is too low.

they would lose too much money staying open for a handful of customers

In this country lots of people live near pubs/clubs, There would be lots of hassle with residents if closing times were extended.

Technically there is no such thing as a nightclub in Ireland, all they are is pubs that have applied for a late licence so they can serve drink till 2am on Fri and Sat night instead of 12.30am. Costs clubs €440 roughly per night for a late licence which is why a lot of pubs don't do it.

They're all over the place in London, well maybe not 24hr but till 6am etc, can easily get a drink at 3am on a Thursday too, not a club even, just late bars, at least around where I live

D2 and coppers close at 4 not half 2. There's definitely a wine bar near them that is open until 6.

they could still go ahead anyway and tell the residents to put up and shut up, after all some who live near bars/pubs bought their houses or rented their places knowing their were bars/pubs in their area

This needs to be totally scrapped. Kills the incentive to open later, not to mention influencing the extortionate costs charged by nightclubs.

Btw, I usually just refer to them as normal clubs. I'm not really one for gay clubs anyway so they do me well enough :P

I hate the "people can't handle it" bullsh!t argument. If someone's causing fights or whatever arrest them, leave everyone else alone. Repeat offenders get a drinking ban for x amount of time, violation of this results in jail.

Btw though, some places in Dublin do in fact stay open well after 4 *coughcoughCopperscoughcoughGardaiBlindSpotcoughcough*

I usually hide a naggin somewhere and bring it back to a 24 hour cafe on o connell street and have it there. Does be great craic

Hmmm.. been meaning to head up to Dublin for a tear and staying with a few mates in a while now but I always heard coppers was a shithole, that's probably still true but it makes the place more appealing anyway :P

It's a bit unfair to the rest of us though because you can't cut yourself off. I work in a pub and there's many a night I finish my shift I'd like to have a few pints but there is no where open or if there is it's the local night club where I can't be dealing with sober.

They're open much too late as it is. If pubs and nightclubs closed earlier there woud be more people in them.

Plus if people went out early and came home early they would be much more productive and boost our economy.

If they closed a 12 everyone would want a houseparty after. 3am is a good time because it leaves a window to get food but not enough to go elsewhere on the drink. The best solution would be no cut-off time because you go home when you feel its right and not pass out trying to last to kickout time or get in a fight because you're waiting for a kebab.

I'd love a club that opened really late but unfortunately it would attract all the d ickheads who can't handle drink, and would result in some seriously messy scenes. Having said that, it might be worth a try to see how it goes.

Here's an idea, leave a little early... The nanny state doesn't force you all to stay until closing time.

Letting places stay open longer just means that everyone that can't control their drinking just get drunker and even more prone to idiocy.

In Spain and similar places they manage their drinking and have places that are open until 6am.
It's Irish and Brits that moan about drinking hours and then fight in the chip shops.
