i find the adverts shop frustrating because i have had many users clicking the buy now button but then never heard from them again.

in fairness to adverts they have refunded the fee but has to be another way its more the users fault then the site.

hi fellas, I find this a very interesting read, I often thought of upgrading my ebay account to a business seller. I sell hand made jewelery and i get quite a few orders for this time of the year, but after Christmas it tends to slow back down again until say april and may.

As I am currently a private seller I do not charge vat to my customers, If i was to become a business seller does ebay have a system in place where they might automatically deduct vat on my sales?? Or is this my duty to inform revenue of my income. my sales would be maximum 2,000 euro per year, in this I have to pay for supplies, laptop, postage materials, stamps, and fuel.

Is it worth my time changing to a business account at all? I know I have a legal right to do so as it is a business at the end of the day, your thought please

    thanks
    regards

Hi, sorry I can't help you with your question. I decided to set up an Adverts.ie shop instead of Ebay.

Hi again, just have another quick question. With an Ebay store, I know that a basic store is €19.99 a month but is the listing fees the same as a private seller.? Does one have to pay to renew the listing every month.? Are there any other charges besides the commission fees.?

You pay fees as normal - see this eBay quote :
All eBay sellers, including those with eBay Shops subscriptions, pay Listing and Final Value Fees. These Listing and Final Value Fees vary based on the listing format (Auction-style or Buy It Now)
To open an eBay Shop, you pay a monthly subscription fee. Each item you list in your eBay Shop incurs an insertion fee and, if it sells, a final value fee. As a Shops subscriber, you will get reduced rates on insertion fees for Buy it now listings. The level of fee discount you receive depends on which Shop level you subscribe to. The fees shown here apply only to Shops opened on eBay.ie

Thanks for the reply. Also, I will be selling on Ebay.UK so will I need to alter my PayPal account due to the different currency.?

Currency rates are automatically calculated .

You can change your Paypal account to sterling or any other currency internally .

Thanks for the reply. I have another question about starting an Ebay store. I will have a store with products selling with the 'buy it now' or 'best offer' options.

How does the payment work for these ads. Do I have to repost the ad every month if the items doesn't sell or will one payment do til the item is sold.?

I will have over 600 ads, what would be the best store for me to use ie. Basic, premium etc.?

I presume you know at this stage that there are 3 ebay shop categories :
    • Basic - € 19.99 monthly
    • Featured - €59.99 monthly
    • Anchor - € 499.99 monthly

If you chose to go with the anchor version , your items will re-list automaticaly every 30 days , until sold , or you decide to end it .

Your decision be obviously be sales-driven by value ( not number of ads )
