James Pearce is reliable. Twitter isn't all bad.

Apparently that alex inglethorpe guy is taking over control of the reserves as of tomorrow and borell is starting his new more technical position, what ever that entails at the club. I read hes pretty highly rated and that borells new job is a promotion of such. Good to see focus and attention is still on the academy and reserves. I wouldnt be worried too much about what hell do anyways as the team is so good at the moment. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Has anyone reliable intimated anything about Segura going to Chelsea. I've seen it mentioned by someone that he's in talks with them but don't know how reliable the source is.

Inglethorpe confirmed as taking over the reserves soon. Picture of him watching LFC U18s with Borrell

    I'd be amazed.

Chelsea already have a DOF and a structure in place. I'd be very surprised if Rafa had anything like the power needed to bring in his own man in such a key position. Also, Segura was after a promotion was he not?

    James Pearce ‏@JamesPearceEcho
See Rodgers' quotes on January transfer window taken out of context by some. Nothing has changed - #LFC still expect to make 2/3 signings

    James Pearce ‏@JamesPearceEcho
The manager was merely saying it would take more than the January window to get the squad how he wants it.

I hope this is true , please let it be . I know its twatter and should be taken with a pinch of salt but I hope he is right .

Even if we do have millions to spend, it's good practice to try keep it on the down low.

    Unlike previous dealings.

I'm not his biggest fan but Enrique is playing well in his new role and I've a feeling he'll end up becoming a cult figure if he stays at anfield.

Why? He's unemployed and would seem a perfect fit. They may have a DOF but it's not like the youth system has been working in getting players through to the first team despite the amount of money they're spending on it. Rafa and Roman were watching the Chelsea u21's game tonight. The promotion thing was what was mooted but who really knows what happened. He didn't leave on bad terms because he was still at Liverpool up until a month back I presume training in Borrell on his new role.

Think without the injury he would already be pushing for a first team place. I mean he looks to have such technical ability but allied with work rate and mobility. Haven't been this excited by a reserve player so quickly since seeing Sterling.

Highlights from the cameo appearance in the reserve game.

What are people's thoughts on Van Wolfswinkel at Sporting Lisbon? Sporting's league form is horrific (just watched them draw against a bottom of the league team) and only last week they were beaten 3-0 by the ten men of Basle. I can't imagine that a player of Van Wolfswinkel's quality is going to want to hang around a club that is imploding and looking likely to go bankrupt. His star is likely to have fallen too (the team around him is pure sh!te), so I would say he has fallen off the radar of the top teams. Given that Sporting are likely to be forced sellers given their perilous financial situation, surely Van Wolfswinkel is the ideal target (young, natural goal scorer, available for a reasonable price)?

I'd buy him just for that name alone

Van Wolfswinkel wouldn't be a bad player to go after in all fairness . If we where to go for him it would have to be less then 10 million for us to consider him . Anything higher would make it too big of a risk for me .

I'd be surprised if he's the answer to all our prayers but if we're presumably out of the running for serious strikers then he's probably one of those in the next bracket we could be looking at.

Also, his name is pretty good. Not quite in the "Vennegoor of Hesselink" league of crazy dutch names but not bad at all.

Haven't got to see him play yet, but I did watch another of their kids (incredibly, an 18 year old Englishman by the name of Eric Dier) score a peach of a goal to draw Sporting level. We should steal him too :pac:

We should be all over that youth team with them in such a bad way. In Portugal this season the top two got to for the first time enter a B team in the league below the top division. Sporting B are currently top of that Segunda Liga with many of the players from that incredible Next Gen team from last year. Betinho has been promoted to the first team for the last few games making a few sub appearances.

I don't think he has the confidence. He always seems to do the simple things look for the easy pass when he could slip in a striker. He seems to get a nosebleed when he gets into the final 3rd just look at last week when he blazed it over against Wigan or against Young Boys when he decided to pull it back instead of shoot himself.

I think he's suffering a little bit from Lucas Leiva syndrome. He's a young lad whose after moving to big club for a big fee and he's not quite sure of what his best position is.He's played wide right, wing back,Holding midfielder, and box to box midfielder.

He looks like he's determined to succeed and hopefully he starts to settle and puts in some more good performances when he gets the chance.

I would say have him work with Lucas and convert him into a DM . He has a great engine and can all day long . It's a role that would suit imo because he seems to prefer to pass a ball simply rather then take a risk . I read last year his stats said he had 84% tackle success rate so I would really and truly think about using him as a DM .

    Just saw it.

Bizzare, I've never hung around with my "brothers' dressed like that.

I think in about 10 years he'll come out and we'll wonder we are surprised, bit like George Michael!

I was never a big fan of Lucas and was unsure if he would come good. However, he has worked really hard and particularly in the last 10 games he has started to impress me. He actually has quite a good range of passing, something that was lacking from his game initially. He played some lovely direct forward passes against Birmingham for example.

Hes quite strong on the ball, good in the air and has great stamina. He also has a fantastic attitude.

Needs to improve on his shooting and could do without giving away so many free kicks in dangerous areas.

Overall, definitely worth the money paid, a v.good squad player and may develop into something more.

Happy enough with that appraisal way back in 2009 :)
