Focus Mk1 - Central Locking Starting to Fail ?

    Two issues.

    1. On cold mornings, my central locking simply does not work. Changed the battery a few months ago which I thought would solve the problem but no good.

    2. A few times now, and especially on cold mornings, the central locking has automatically locked all doors in the car when I close the drivers door if the car is running. Happened to me on a cold morning when outside of the car. Luckily I had a 2nd set of keys.

Is the central locking system on the way out ?

A faulty door solenoid would be my guess.

Parents have an 01 focus, when you unlock the drivers door with the key the other doors won't unlock until you open the drivers door fully then the passengers can get in. Other than that its a fantastic car.

I have the similar problems with a Focus.
Cold weather plays havoc with the central locking. When i open the drivers side door, all other doors stay locked from anywhere between 20 seconds to 5 minutes after unlocking. It's a common issue.
