Theroux. The feigned naivety works so well for him, and it's pretty hilarious to see people feeling like they're more intelligent or somehow superior to him, even though he's a very well-educated man who knows far more about the workings of the world than the majority of the people he interviews.

The episode where he goes to the brothel in Nevada is just great television, and obviously the Westboro Baptist Church episode is a classic.

In terms of ability to make quality documentaries, Theroux is on an entirely different level to the other two. He has an amazing skill of communication that very few documentary makers have.

Theroux for me. Ross Kemp isn't bad but I do laugh at his hand gestures when he is trying to add emphasis. They look so rehearsed

I had literally never heard of Donal, googled him and it hit me, that f*ckin eejit from those terrible, terrible TV3 docs. I hope he's done more with his life but I don't really care enough to read more about him. Anyway Theroux is king.

Ross is cool but Louis wins out. The Mcintyre guy is a twat

While I do enjoy Kemp's documentaries, Theroux is on a completely different level to them.

His ability to coax people out from their shells by feigning naivety and innocence is pretty spectacular, imo.

Edit: Mistook McIntyre for someone else.

    Are you for real OP?

Kemp's docs are good and interesting but Theroux wins hands down, he's got a great talent for getting people to say all kinds of shìt to him.

He did some decent undercover documentaries a few years ago which were better than those "toughest towns" ones or whatever the more recent ones were called.

Theroux was born to be a documentary maker. You can't teach what he has.

If the three of them got into a fight, I have full confidence that he would somehow emerge the victor. He has massive cohones, check out his documentary in Johannesburg.

Ross Kemp would get out of there as soon as things started hotting up.

Donal(not Michael) was making documentaries/investigative journalism before either of them.
That Chelsea Headhunters thing broke some new ground.

Theroux annoys me but credit where credit is due his documentary extreme love about autism was excellent.

I imagine it would be one of those slappy girl-fights between those three. I don't think Kemp and that other lad are fit to clean Louis Theroux's boots!

I always liked Louis and his journalistic style. He's published books also which are well worth reading, an interesting guy who's a bit quirky but also highly intelligent.

Glad to see so many appreciate the sheer genius of what Louis Theroux does.
    Faith in AH restored.

He was in the SAS you know...Super Army Soldiers.

Donal Macintyre did a documentary on the Chelsea Headhunters (hooligan firm) where he went undercover and became one of them. A lot of the footage they captured lead to the arrest of some of the Headhunters.

Sad story a few years later where Donal was out for lunch one day at a pub with his wife and he bumped into some of them. Donal's wife had a brain tumour at the time and they had decided to go to the pub the day before she had a scan due. He told them this but they still beat him unconscious. Horrible thugs.

Ha. So I wasn't thinking of the wrong person, initially. :pac:

    Kemp because..

    every few words...
    .
    he pauses for breath...

    leaving everyone else...

    waiting and wondering...

Clearly i think Kemp would have the best outcome in the op's question.
But Theroux is amazing at what he does....
    Rather a strange question ?

Theroux hands down. Love his documentaries.

I haven't seen a new one in ages, is he still making them?

I liked that in the Jimmy Savile doc, LT dosnt ask that many questions, just steps back open mouthed and lets Savile spout his zany spiel.

Pure gold, adding the clip for context.

He was put in his place in the one he did on the wrestling!

He kept pushing them on kayfabe and they got annoyed and pushed him through some of the training they do; he then saw what kayfabe was!

I love his shows, but this was one of the few times, maybe only time, where I think he fell short of understanding his subject matter.
