What is the oldest thing in your house or oldest thing that you own? Do you believe you have anything of substantial value in your possession? Maybe an heirloom passed down through a few generations?

Family members and your virginity are not acceptable answers,by the way :p

Gibson Les Paul standard.10 years too young to retire on its sale, but a lovely instrument after 43 odd years seasoning. Won't be parting with it any time soon. If I ever do, I'd imagine it'll go to a nephew or niece. Not for sale.

I have some coins my grand uncle collected. He died many years before I was born. Some date back to the very early 1800s.
My favorite might be a rupee from 1840 from the East India Trading Company. Pity about the small hole in it, I think it might have hung about the neck. I might wear it myself. Here it is beside a Mexican coin from 1894.
(It was pretty cool finding these and the rest.)

I've a house that was built in 1740. Does that count? Lots of the things inside it are much the same age.. I like old stuff. It's stood the test of time. I also have a clock that came out of Buckingham palace.. and I've a gun and a pit bull, btw.:) Oh, and i forgot, there's a church from 1370 outside, boffins turn up each year to measure it and make sure it's still there. That's quite old in fairness.

A science text book printed in 1899. Until I opened it, the chapter on Quantum Theory was both there and not there ...

It's an early 1920s model. Sorry the lighting isn't that good, so you can't really see it. But it has the famous His Masters Voice logo on it and as you can see it still works perfectly. I have a collection of 78s to play on it, mostly Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, and Deanna Durbin.
