Baby birth weight

    seriously who cares if its 50lbs or 2kg.. whats the fascination with a new borns weight.. they hardly care at this stage what they look like.

    It's kind of weird to be talking about a baby's rear, bro'. But I do think that a baby with half of one wouldn't weigh that much less, they're tiny.

    Why cant they just say if the baby is healthy rather than have people try and figure it out from its weight?? What is even a healthy range anyway? Is there a scale of weight to health than I dont know about?

    50lbs Playboy! You'd care if that was what you had just squoze out!

    My last child was 10lbs (and I'm small-sized lady), 3 weeks overdue, the full shock of hair. He turned around and said 'Howaye' when he came out. :D

    No not really but obviously a bigger baby is going to cause more damage during the birth but again that depends on how big the mother is.

    I would be guessing the person giving birth, I don't think she would be all smiles if the baby she was about to give birth to weighed 50lb.

    There does seem to be a fascination about baby weight alright, with many Irish people presuming that a heavier fatter baby is healthier than a baby of a lesser weight, not just at birth but for the first year too . . . I would be more worried about the lack of breast feeding in Ireland. Fat baby skinny baby, a breast fed baby may do much better in later life according to recent findings!

    My bambino was 8lbs 15 and the only reason I remember is because he was also born at 8.15!

    Not that recent, TBF.

    Every notice how fat bottle fed babies are though? With the breast the baby stops when they're full, and you don't really know how much they've had. But you keep feeding a bottle fed baby until the finish the whole thing. And bottle milk seems to swell up their faces for some reason. I have a nurse friend who can tell how a baby is fed just by looking at it.
