    I still don't know what;
Award: Full Maintenance and 100% Fees Adjacent and Maintenance Grant: €0.00
    actually means.

All I want to know is what €€ I am getting. Can't get an answer out of anybody. Robbie says he can't tell me for Data Protection reasons. The helpline is either unanswered or results in being fobbed off. And my e-mails go unanswered.

Whatever about the hassle of processing applications, surely it can't be that hard to access my file, check what I've been awarded, and use their training, knowledge and experience to tell me, in figures, what I am going to get.

How can I appeal within the specified time otherwise?

Couldn't have made more of a shambles of this if they'd tried.

It means you will get your fees paid for. But no maintenance each month. Odd they couldn't tell you because when I was on the phone the lady had told me that I had been rewarded that day and how much I was getting.

To appeal, at the end of the letter is says you need to download the form from CDVEC and it should be received within 30 days from the date you received your letter.

    Thanks for the reply AppleBottle!

The problem I have is that my fees are pretty high. I'm clearly not going to get all €8.5k of them paid, despite the 100% nonsense. I remember something about having to cover the first €2k myself. And I also remember there being two different rates, one being capped at €2k, the other at over €6k. Nothing is really clear though.

That's what's really confusing me. I can't see anything on the letter which clarifies it for me, and I just can't get an answer from SUSI. I can make my own guesses obviously, from reading posters' advice on here, but if my legal rights re appeal etc are being affected, I really should be given an actual answer by them at the date of award, not after the 21 days for appeal has elapsed.

Sorry for the rant, and thanks again for your reply!

Got a letter from them today requesting I send them a P21 in the included envelope. I sent in a P21 with the rest of my documents in september... They didn't even include the envelope. Tried ringing them, no answer after 3/4 attempts at calling.

Can't believe the government thought forcing every grant application to one place would be a good idea.

Ah, yes. I've heard about the tuition fees also. I think SUSI pay the first €6250. Or something around that number. Best of to keep on ringing them and get them to clear it for you because I'm not 100% sure on the tuition fees part of it. You may be on hold for a while. The most I have been has been around 10 minutes but they have eventually answered for myself.

There are 2 types of grant for postgrad.

A fee grant of 2000 towards your fees if your income is less than 31500

A grant of upto 6270 fees if your income is less than 22000 and you receive a social welfare payment -

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

My family sent SUSI a P21 three times before they stoped asking for it.

Now apparently I'm getting 67% of the postgraduate contribution fee. Which I take to be roughly €1,300. Bit of a let down considering that, had I gone to college last year, I would have received over €4,000 given my minimum wage income and rent etc.

Not sure why they bothered telling me I was getting full maintenance and 100% of anything in the first place.

€1,300 will be gone in a matter of weeks with college fee loans etc. Not sure I could be bothered appealing if that's what the statute tells me I'm entitled to. Would have been better off signing on the dole and getting rent allowance etc for a year. If that's the best means-assessment method they can come up with then I give up.

Rant over. Again. Best of luck to the rest of ye waiting on answers.

    Yours in abject despondency...

If thats the case I dont think you actually receive the 1300 yourself, its just paid directly to the college.

    Can anyone help me here?

I have been requested for a Lease Agreement to prove independent residence(as my bank statement wasn't sufficent). On the checklist I have recieved it says "Copy of your lease agreement for the defined period or correspondence from a government department"
I have already provided social welfare statement and revenue statement from my address, are these not accepted as correspondence from a government dept?

No idea, although i was just applying for fees grant. i just kept hounding them after they started looking for stuff id already sent in. made sure to register post everything aswell and called to make sure it arrived, called to check progress, called to make sure their damn lunch went alright :). im not sure what my exact time line was as i rang them one day to hear that the letter requesting final course acceptance form should have been sent out and received ages ago. id be guessing you wouldn be waiting more than two weeks to get your letter for final course acceptance form.

You must put it in writing to them that since the time you got your P45 in Sept 2011 that you lived off your savings, there is nothing wrong with that.

Download the Social Welfare form from the SUSI website and send it directly to Social Welfare in Dublin, before you post it fill in the appropriate boxes like your SUSI ref number etc, you can post it from the UK to Dublin, they are very good, tell them you need it for your grant form and you should have it back in 7 to 10 days, if you have family in Ireland ask Social Welfare to send it to your fmaily home and then they can forward it directly to SUSI.

    Thanks again!

Keep at them, id say mine was slightly faster in that i only had myself to account for and so had'nt that much documentation to deal with.

I called them again today and was kept on 12 mins before gettign through. I was told the same story as last Friday and the friday before, the grant application is gone to review, I asked how long it would take to get reviewed and I was told that information can't be given out.

Absolutely appalling service that's all I can say :(

Despite registering all my documentation, SUSI lost it all even though they signed for it in Cork. It is a joke I applied in June and just got told on the phone it will be at least December. They waited 3 months the even say they had lost it. I have had to make several phone calls and one night i was over an hour on the phone because no one had a clue what they were doing so they kept passing me from person to person. My mum had to take a loan off provident as my course has cost 3grand so far and she is a single parent in a low paid job. They are a disgrace and the whole thing disgusts me!!!

I registered all my stuff and they signed for it then lost it and waited 3 months to tell me!

I heard someone say they got their installment at midnight.

I know a few people were wondering if you would still get back paid as there are rumours going around people weren't. In my email which I received today it said I would receive €XXX on 23/11/2012. €XXX equals two monthly installments. So, I'm getting back paid.

I can't deal with them anymore. I sent in everything they asked, but now there's more. Robbie, the SUSI staffer here, is not helpful.

I want to know several things.
    1) Why are SUSI losing highly confidential documents (P60, etc) without being reprimanded?
    2) Why are the grants not being paid on time?
    3) Why on earth did they not plan for this many applications? There were 70,000 CAO places this year. They should have planned for 70,000 applications.

I can't ask my parents for anymore money. I shouldn't have to ring my grandmother for money. And my 'college' fund? It's gone. I can't afford this anymore.

EDIT: Robbie, I didn't mean for that to be an attack on you. I apologise if it was seen that way.

What is the point of this delaying tactic they're putting on? There's still back pay so why bother..

Because some of us unfortunately will have had to drop out due to not being able to afford accommodation etc so they won't have to pay us anything...they'll have to pay dole money though later so it doesn't really make sense.

I think some of it is that they are so under staffed.
