04 Nissan Primera Radio Problem

    Hey Lads,

Am looking for a hand trying to diagnose a very strange radio problem I'm having with my 04 Primera. The radio/cd is a built in unit, so just taking it out and putting in any other radio is a no no unfortunately.

Basically the radio works 100% correctly 1 time out of 5 maybe. other times the following occurs:
    • Radio station presets are saved, but the station names do not appear, only the frequency and the radio won't work
    • So if you switch to CD, the speaker sounds are either non existant or are muffled, and very slowly will work themselves around and the sounds will start projecting as expected
    • In the point above, one the sound comes back to 100%, the radio stations 'sometimes' also begin to work again but sometimes they don't

So that's it pretty much, I have no idea of where to begin checking, it's very annoying now at this stage (have had it 9 months)! I'm thinking it could be a loose connection or a possible fuse issue, because as I've said it works some of the time!

So any help/direction/guidance is appreciated, money is very tight coming up to Christmas so I'd like to take a stab at ruling out some of the simpler causes if possible

    1. Make sure "RDS" button is on or enabled on the radio or in the Settings.
2 and 3. Check the speaker cabling to the doors all around the car as well as the back of the stereo (it can come out, awkwardly).

Just for safetys safe, reset the radio back to defaults withing the settings. If you can't do this, make sure you have it's Keycode and remove the car from battery power for 10 minutes to let it reset itself.
