Some more from the Turini event. These ones from a camera, not phone. Sorry if there's some duplication, some cars were more photogenic than others.

Wow. I didn't read the text intro too closely, so I half-thought the dash-cam car was the one that was going to cross the line. Watching the video, I was critiquing the driver of that car. I did notice that he/she had closed the gap to the car in front to well below the 'two second rule'. I know that not all collisions can be avoided, especially when it is the the 'other' driver is at fauly, but I do think that if the dash-cam car driver had maintained a safe gap, he would have had much better visibility of the on-coming traffic, and might well have been able to take evasive action.

What a post for a pics thread.... :o

I can remember being at Kyalami i think it was either 73/74,the perana was dominant at the time, and we had heard a chevy firenza v8 was set to race that day,it actually blew the perana off the track, the Firenza was also setting good times at Tarlton and rainbow drag strips.

I was posting some pics in another thread about old car dealers in Dublin and I thought I'd share these. All were taken in Dublin between 1991 and 1993.

I love the comment on that page:
It would have been better if the clip were even longer leading up to the accident. Maybe showing the couple waking up, showering, having breakfast . It needed a bit more character development don't you think ?
I lol'ed here in the office!

I think that may have been Lochlann Quinn's Ferrari (nice reg!). That's Ailsbury Road and he used to be parked there frequently in those days. He still lives nearby on Nutley Road and still has some awesome cars.

I've done car runs on July 4th the last couple of years and parked up outside the embassy. Got told to move on fairly lively but still managed a few pics. Will root some out. ;)

Those pics are exactly like what would be taken if there were camera phones about 20 years ago.

Pictures of the year on here in my opinion.

Just goes to show there was a fair bit of money floating around back then.

Thing is most of the owners probably still have a healthy bank account. ;)

Old money and plenty of life experience.

I used to keep a 35MM camera on me most of the time back then. Mobiles were like bricks and a camera phone was well and truly a thing of the future.

Glad ye're enjoying the pics, theyve been in various albums in a drawer for years.

Regarding the Volvo, Id never seen one before that. Seen a few in the States since though. Dublin was where all the best metal was. If you wanted to see a motor, you went to the garage. No carzone or internet back then...:D

My son-in-laws brother has a few of those Citroen Vans and rents them out for functions. He trailers them around the place as they are an absolute dog to drive any distance.

Love those old pics. Nice shot of a Mk1 Jetta with an old Jag beside it!

Is that the only BMW M1 in the country? I heard tell of a police watch on that car as it was so rare.

An Audi V8  Rare as rocking horse sh!t in Ireland. I've only ever seen one in the flesh once in Ireland

Great pics by the way. I used to do a similar trip around the dealers on my mountain bike when I was about 12 and take lots of pics. Most of them lost now but this has got me in the hunting mode. See what I can come up with. :)

Its also great to see the mundane stuff in with the flash stuff. These cars were everywhere just a short few years ago. Nice to see them as I remember them in familiar settings.

I was the same as a child, always wanted to go to car shows and always taking pictures of cars. Must find them in the parent's over christmas as I didn't have my own camera and just used the mother's. We have drawers and drawers of old photos so must root out the car ones.

Fantastic photos and thanks for sharing.....must show my Uncle the SL price, he bought a '96 one a few years ago for €6k! Had it as my wedding car last year.
