Worth a shot I guess. The indicator lens in mine has a little chip gone out of it , is there any orange resin available for fixing chips on indicator lens?

    1) Q is, has the missing chip gone inside the lens, or gone altogether ? If inside remove lens and try to shake it out.
    2) IF you have the chip then buy a 2 part resin glue, mix a bit up , and try to position the chip back in place and hopefuly it'll look the part
    3) If you've no chip then buy some orange 'Lens repair tape' and place over the gap, then I'd place some clear contact film over that again to make sure it didn't lift off, or use a hot air gun -at a distance:eek: to bond it

I put a chip back in place and the little gap that was left filled it with the resin glue - not a drop of water and passed the NCT;)

Does anyone know if YZH 737, the Fiat 1500 Spider survived?

It's about 20' further back from that photo, and has been out in the open ever since. You can guess the condition its in now.

The 850 range was the bees-knees back in the day

Upgraded my 127 with 850 sport carb and 4 branch, 128 back box for a roar, and PR Reilly 5.5x13 steel rims with 165/70 - 13 SP Sports stretched to fit
Had ABARTH across the windshield which Jack Downey ( Downeys of Dollymount ) modified to AFART :p:p:p

If there was a gathering like that today it would be wall to wall ZV plates. How much more interesting the cars are with the old Irish plates on. Or maybe that's just me.

The green 850 saloon in the 3rd pic was restored for O'Briens , the Fiat dealers in Claremorris.

The white 850 Spider belonged to journalist Joe O'Shea

The MZA reg 850 saloon had an accident in Mondello Park and was scrapped, I've got the rear panel off it

The maroon 132 was owned at the time by the late Gerry Kennedy, he owned loads of them, it now belongs to the lad who's got the Ritmo Abarth on donedeal

There are two Fiat 131 Mirafiori's living off greenpark road in Bray, one of them white. Yerman has a Tempra as well, so I guess he's been well bitten by the Fiat bug!

    Agree.
Original plates give a car more 'substance/history' imho.

I used to think that too, until I realised how many ringers are out there.

    I agree....

Sometimes the plate doesn't even match the model of the car. Saw a Matra Ranchero once at a meeting on "original" irish plates. The tax disk said Hillman Imp. Go figure!!

Yeah, nowadays we have original pre 87 cars, first issue ZVs, second issue ZVs, year plates, second issue year plates and all the ringer cars on top if that.

    What's wrong with the reg?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,499 ✭✭✭Capri

    What's wrong with the reg?

Probably because a 'DZL' or 'RZU' etc would have made it an original restored/find Irish car ( assembled in Wexford ? ). That's an import from UK / SA

Personally would have preferred an original Irish car.
That would have looked better on an old Peugeot though!

Ah, sure you could probably buy a logbook on DD.

I like the fact that my car has an original reg but its beginning to piss me off when ignorant or dare I say it jealous people accuse me of it being a ranger!
To be honest I couldn't give toss anymore it's getting a bit old being a suspicious of every original reg until proven genuine, there are a shed load of ringers out there some people try to make it look genuine others don't.
I was talking to a guy who has a original reg mgb a while ago and he had just pressed black on white alu plates and I remarked to him that the car could do with some nice black on red peak plates and and he said why? Sure its only a number plate, we're not all number plate freaks like you!
