    As the article mentions Herod is thought to have died a year or two before AD. Also if the gospels are read as historically accurate then if shepherds were tending their sheep it was probably around September. Nobody knows, the article is well written but none of this stuff is contentious.
    And yes, Santy was born on the 25th Dec, with a fully grown beard too.
