Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? I know that's what I'm getting when I get a WiiU.

...anybody know how long i should be waiting for an ebay delivery from hongkong? I've been waiting for a Buffalo USB SNES pad for 4 weeks now....

Woohoo, just got it this morning. Can't have a play on it yet cos I'm in work, but from an initial feel of it it looks almost identical to the original SNES pad.

It's the same weight, same material, exact same colours, and the start/select and pal-coloured face buttons all look and feel exactly as they should.

The d-Pad is only fractionally different, but enough to be noticeable to anyone who has played as much on the original as people around here will have :D. The corners feel a little "sharper" not quite as round under your thumb as the SNES pad does. Also the rubber matting on both the L and R buttons and the D-Pad is definitely not as thick as the original SNES pad is. It's noticeable if you want to do a strict like for like comparison, but not in any way that would bother you when using it to play games.

I'll post in the "new stuff" thread once i've given it a spin on a PC later. If the response & feel of it is anywhere close to the original I'd say it'll be my retro/2D gaming pad of choice from now on. Bye bye fightpad...

I have no problem with it - it's certainly a damn sight handier than the restrictions MS put on Xbox Live (had to set up an XBL account for a younger cousin recently - took over an hour). Older kids are able to bypass the 50c request easily enough anyway, it's moreso to protect younger kids. It's not exactly the most elegant solution, but it's something.

More importantly - the WiiU has in-built spoiler tags

The problem is that it's non-refundable. Every other service that does this like netflix or XBLA it's refundable.

Also don't think for one second that this is to protect minors. It's to protect nintendo. If a minor is exposed to inappropriate material and Nintendo are taken to court they can just produce the credit card transaction and if little timmy bypassed the check they are in the clear.

Its unreal isn't it, I done the same for my little fella last xmas & was nearly tearing my hair out by the end of it. You need to then make an account to administer the junior one, email/password hell it is

Yeah I highly doubt they are that concerned about what the youngins see. Its good business practice to cover your back for any eventually

Yep, was driven mad by the times I had to start again for some idiotic reason :( Think I tried to sign into my own account rather than having to go through the pain of setting up a new guardian one, and that just caused yet more headaches.

Worst thing about was that it was just to download prepaid World Cup DLC for FIFA. Took me over an hour before I could even input the code that had already been paid for.

Lads (Sera), if I was to buy games for say the Gamecube, from Germany, would the games be all in German? I've looked at pictures of the boxes and they don't reveal very much - PAL on the bottom corner, seems to be in English, but visited Youtube and they are indeed videos of the games in other languages.

    What do?

You'd be better off saying which game, some games like RoR give a choice on the language before starting, some others don't, I had this problem with Calling on the Wii, afaik it's Pal English and other languages in Pal?
Or look up a Playthrough/Walkthrough, a lot of them usually show the start up of them game or Wiki page might help.

Yeah it pretty much depends on the game. Some games are multilanguage while others aren't. You'll just have to do some research. See if there's any pictures of the back of the box where it will tell you, check if there's pirate versions, they sometimes say whether they are multilanguage or just google it.

Don't buy Beyond good and Evil from a German seller, I was unfortunate to find out it had a German/Italian language release.
Actually I wonder if all ubisoft releases were handled like that? By the looks of it The 2nd prince of Persia also got a Germany/something else release but the first didnt... guess best thing to do is ask the seller :)

But definitely Beyond G&E, Prince of Persia warrior within and 98% sure XIII had multiple language versions, I might take a longer look through some tomorrow :)

Can't it not be told what language a game the game is from the colour coded tab on the spine?
Some will have non-English box and instructions but still be English in game, like Chibi Robo German release.

Yeah the colour coded tabs on the spine will tell what country it's from but not necessarily the language the game is in.

    Don't worry!
Nintendo will make sure its a tenner here.
And that 5gb download,it'll still be there unfixed, and why stop at five!, make it ten!!.
And they'll throttle the download server to dialup speeds.
And only allow ten..no wait ,five people download at any time.
Because they love and support Europe so much

It was confirmed that 5GB download is actually closer to 1GB :)

Yep I it seems pretty much confirmed that if you power off during an update, its gonna be a brick. Though most consoles will brick if you do that, they always warn you to never power off during an update

But what if the power goes out? Then what are you gonna do?

Sure, you'll brick most devices if you cut the power during a firmware update and that's completely understandable to be fair.
You wont brick anything if the power cuts during a download though.
