no tv socket in room

i am looking for a bit of advice , i recently went renting a room in wilton in Cork, there is no TV socket in the room , would a saor view box along with " rabbit ears " arieal work to get a reception , any advice appreciated ,

It probably would, you are very close to Spur Hill transmitter in Wilton.

If you're at a decent altitude and near the Wilton roundabout or the hospital then you have a good chance because the transmitter at Spur Hill is only 3 kms away. Can you see it from anywhere near the house? It's more or less due south, bearing 192 from the Wilton roundabout.

You should also be able to see Collins Barracks transmitter to the north on the hill. As CoylemJ says Spur hill is south but the one directly in front of the airport is UPC, to the right of it is Spur hill but you might not be able to see it, either way you shouldn't have any problem with signal.

So called rabbits ears are VHF aerials, totally unsuitable. If you must use an indoor aerial at least use a UHF one or make one out of coax as Watty has often explained.
