CONSTITUTION OF IRELAND – BUNREACHT NA hÉIREANN CONSTITUTION OF IRELAND
In the Name of the Most Holy Trinity, from Whom is all authority and to Whom, as our final end, all actions both of men and States must be referred,
    We, the people of Éire,
Humbly acknowledging all our obligations to our Divine Lord, Jesus Christ, Who sustained our fathers through centuries of trial,

This is not a joke it really does say this.
This has to face a legal challenge from Irish people of different beliefs. How can atheists accept this?

This has to be removed to spare us from ridicule.

I don't really care, both in the sense I don't care if the Irish constitution mentions Jesus or Christianity, and in the sense that I don't care how ridiculous you think that Jesus and Christianity are.

I'd rather see religion removed from our schools, legal system and medical system first. It's a lot more important than the preamble of the constitution.

Well, I suppose it has been about 6 hours since a God thread.

    Of course, Religion is personal.

    Yes....it should be removed

But it would be better to remove it from the entire system first.

It should be removed yes but as others have said we have bigger problems to worry about at the moment.

As an atheist, I don't care about it, because it doesn't really concern me, however I would like to see it removed.

It does concern me though that these two ads were served up to me on this page

Can I just not have an interest in religion and not be labelled an athiest? Like middle ground kinda thing without the silly labels.

I think a better explaination for the virgin birth would be that Joseph flicked it or she never wiped the rim.

It's one of those questions where there isn't a middle ground. Particularly where Christianity is concerned. Either someone commits their life to following Jesus and His word, or they reject Him.

If you don't want to be called an atheist that's fine, but there isn't really a middle ground.

Come on now. You can't reject something that doesn't exist.
