Is it not free delivery from Amazon when the order is over €20-€25? It always is for me anyway unless its from people/companies selling on Amazon rather than Amazon itself.

And I see someone got all enthusiastic and went for Half Life and the Lambda before finding he couldn't remember how to draw one, looking like an idiot in the end.... ah well....

Bit of Sensible Soccer down in the corner there as well. This was early in the evening, I didn't check back on the blackboard later to see how it filled up.

It was all very busy at the launch so I didn't really get to try much out, but it was a bit underwhelming to be honest. There was one interesting exhibit that you play one game across successive generations of gaming systems (it didn't work right though)

Some good talks coming up though.

    Use Parcel Motel.

its a pain if there's not one near you (lucky enough to have one near where I
work). Massively handy for buying UK /only free postage to uk stuff on ebay and the like (saved 15 quid postage a few days ago)

There's more parcel motel locations being introduced soon though isn't there? And also, the point about getting something parcel motel'ed & then forwarded onto you by a friend/family member is a good one

Yeah I cant wait till a parcel motel opens up close enough to me. Ebay sellers just charge stupid amounts for international shipping

I don't know anyone, friend or family, that lives near a Parcel Motel, so that's out. I'd also check to see if what Steve said about anything from Amazon direct having free postage for anything over €25, but I can't really check, since my last 3V voucher expired.

We should probably set up a private group amongst ourselves here, where we can help out those in need of parcel motel. I wonder if it'd be worth while

Amazon most definitely offer free shipping on €25+ deliveries, so you're grand.

We've none down here so I'd love it if you're serious, though retro might do that for me anyways

Ahhh. Guess I'll pick up a €60 voucher so I can get UDHD and Total Recall (the original of course, not the remake). Thanks for that.

Someone (Japanese, of course) has crafted a nightmarish, 'real-life' interpretation of Kirby:

There is one opening up in Limerick sometime in November according to them.

Yeah if the postage costs were being sent to my PayPal account I'd easilly get stuff sent to my Parcel Motel or pick stuff up for other people. Happy to help out.

I queried with Parcel Motel the rationale for selecting locations. The key one is that they're placed in locations of min population of 20000.

So if you're in the sticks or in a town like me (Arklow) you're sh1t out of luck.

    From the article:
But I am convinced that the graphics in computer games are now so realistic that children can’t tell if they are computer generated or not and that’s what causes this behaviour.

Holy Jaysus, what sort of out of touch, gimp of a dinosaur forms an opnion like that? So much for a college education

But i suppose, its easy enough to get press with opinions like that ;)

They said the same kind of thing about the digitized sprites in Mortal Kombat. Look at them now :D

Real reason this study showed a connection between violence and videogames is because it's from a small university and small time researcher trying to make a name for themselves. Controversy for the sake of controversy and using terrible test groups. I'd love to know the name of the journal and find out how small the impact value of the journal is where this 'research' will be published. More than likely it won't even be getting published.

Of course every media outlet fails to do their research and see that by far the most comprehensive study carried out by multiple researchers in this area and funded by the British government was the Byron report which showed there was no link between videogames and violent behaviour. The Daily Mail weren't happy with the results because it cut down dramatically on their videogame scaremongering quota.

Any idea where? There's so many places in town they could go but I bet it'll be out miles away

And why is violence the only trait which passes from games to reality?

Why aren't Harvest Moon kids becoming farmers? Pokemon players working in zoos? Streets of Rage players eating their food off the ground?

Okay, so I do the last one. But only within the 3 second rule!

Castletroy Texaco I think but I vaguely remember reading about a second location. Where that is I hadn't an iota.

    Too slow!

I tried a Twinkie last time I was in New York as a matter of interest. They're absolutely sick.

Never had a snack made me feel so obese eating it.

Most American confectionary is. My mate I trade games with goes bananas for the sweets and chocolate I send him over. The problem is I believe to do with them having to use corn syrup rather than cane sugars to sweeten products. It tastes completely different and 'sick'.
