Basically I want to be able to watch films on it, can I get an external hard drive and play it through my phone or do

I have the note1 - so I imagine note 2 will be at least the same.
You can have up to 80 gig of memory on the phone - so you probably dont need an external harddrive. Just plug the drive in and copy everything to your phone.

I have to get a keyboard with a usb port? If so do they even exist for this phone? Or at all? As I said I don't really understand how all this stuff works!

im not 100% sure what you are asking but ...
if you need a physical keyboard there are a number of options.

    see this for instance

I've noticed on OK/Cancel dialog boxes, that I keep going to press Cancel. It turns out they have switched the positioning of the buttons with release 4.1 - I cannot understand why they did this but I suppose I'll get use to the new layout soon enough.

As a matter of interest, what bluetooth headset are you using Ben?

I have a couple of Jabra EasyGo headsets, one for the car and one kept in my laptop bag for travelling. Tried loads of different brands including the Jawbone models but the Jabra EasyGo is by far the best. It pairs with everything, is well designed, easy to use, VERY comfortable to wear with or without the ear loop and looks good. It's understated slick rather than "Look at me" which some of the devices are. Also, as is increasingly the case, it's charged via micro USB so no need to carry a proprietary charger around.

You won't go wrong with one of these http://www.jabra.com/products/bluetooth/jabra_easygo/jabra_easygo.

I got the note 2 last week, the micro usb cable seems to fall out very easily. Anyone else have this issue?

I got the official flip cover from amazon was £20 it is a really nice fit but it does add a tiny bit of bulk and hides the volume keys so I'm not sure about it. I'll give it some time it is definitely slick though but the branding on it could be a little more subtle for my tastes.

I'm having an issue though with the phone. When I play music, lock the phone and then slip it in my pocket the phone unlocks and pauses the track. I have no idea why. I though initially it was some of the motion setting I had change like palm mute and face down to mute but even after turning all of these off it still happens almost all of the time. It seems to occur when I drop the phone in. no unlock buttons are being pressed and the screen even now has the cover. This is wrecking my head doesn't even happen when I use my back pocket!! It also happens when dropping in the pocket of a bag.

    anyone experience same?

for the cover blocking the volume keys, you could use earphones with volume control (included with the phone)

the music player mutes when you "palm" the screen, could be that or is that the one youve already disabled?

other than that i would be thinking that its faulty headphones or socket and the device thinks the headphones have been removed

Or you've turned voice control on and said "pause" (or by freak of nature the sound of you putting the phone into your particular pocket makes a sound that sounds like "pause" :D )

I showed the feature to my gf who has an Apple and now she gleefully shouts out "NEXT!" or "STOP!" whenever I have the music player on in my car.

I got one about a month ago. What its great at is cleaning your screen while in your pocket, but mine is getting a little grubby and worn looking aleady. The back is very scratch resistant though.

I bought the below the other day. Will be waiting a while however!

nah its neither of those - it ONLY happens in my pocket sometimes no matter how carefully I put it in there. I can lock the phone, shake it all around flip it etc... out in the open it never happens

and Thirdfox no, not using voice :pac:

I am on Omega rom might be something in that. I've turned off all motion settings but no joy. They only work when the screen is on anyway. Might try that pocket locker app...

The hard case looks like it'll add too much bulk!?

Also, that damn HTC Droid DNA looks lurvly :o

could be a bug in the rom alright.

im just thinking of one other possibility, i have the same flip case as you and i find the power button is easy to touch its not covered by the case. ive had the screen come on in my pocket or in a bag as its so sensitive. if thats happening, your screen would be receptive to touch commands for a few seconds.

its a a stretch, but i dont know what else it could be and it seems very hard for you to reproduce it.

t'was happening before the flip case but continues to happen. it must be the power button is too sensitive :( but even then, that would show the lockscreen why would it then unlock and stop my music!? bit coincidental all three occurring in sequence. anyway, might do a re-flash with wipe :o

with music playing, tap the power button and "palm" the lock screen.
the music should pause without unlocking

negative I had all that turned off!! Anyway I just copped it. about time. Turns out it was a SLIGHT twig of the headphone jack when putting it in my pocket. I have one of those L shaped jacks with big cans - when position so that the L goes across the top of the phone rather than let it overlap over the edge, the wire was catching on my pocket and pulling the connection.

    228884.JPG

NOW, it was BARELY moving it at all the jack must be ubber sensitive. i.e it can continue playing a tiny bit out! Anyway, when I have it over the outer edge problem solved. Never had this issue before just glad I found out how to replicate it this was driving me NUTS! :D

Where's the best place to get one of these at the moment guys? Sim Free preferred.

    Any bricks n mortar's doing decent trade-ins? I have a Note 1 I'd be looking to change.

Carphone warehouse do trade ins. You could check with them.

I got mine from Amazon Germany for 550e. Good price and if you need things like a SD card and case it will probably work out cheaper for postage

Panamov are the cheapest ive seen. They offer 5% off for bank transfers too. There a grey area seller so read up if you decide to purchase from them

I have this one for about €6 delivered http://dx.com/p/car-portable-device-gadget-holder-and-windshield-mount-1043

Had it for my previous phone and it holds the Note 2 just fine both in landscape and horizontal mode.

A tweet sent from mugen power (@MugenBatteries) has just caught my eye!
@njomany We have released 3200mAh for it and 6400mAh is planned this month.

I have a Ram mount on my bike for my GPS and I see that they do a waterproof box thats the right size for the Note 2. Its going to make an awesome GPS and on board computer :)

6400 yes, but the 3200 only gives 3% longer battery life. Definitely not worth the €35 it costs!

I agree, it was the announcement of the 6400mah that cought my eye. There's very few tablets out there that have batteries that size and in that case they're not even replaceable.
