Where to train for a Commis Chef?

Hi all, A friend of mine wants to be a commis Chef, where do you train to become one like do you need certs and all to do this, ? Is there some basic training? Im sure most will say experience needed but how do you get experience if nobody is willing to take on an unexperienced commis chef??

Think WIT have some cooking/catering degree course.Tell him to look it up.
As far as I know .outside the cooking school route,the only way is to work tour way up in kitchen and get training there.He'd probably have to start at the very bottom and work his ass off while showing an interest in cooking. Either way will be about 3 - 5 years before he's a proper chef.

I know WIT do a culinary course. That's how a friend of mine became a chef. There's work experience included in that course so you can get your foot in the door. Plus it's fairly hands on everyday anyway so you get plenty of practice.
