i dont dislike any united players, i fully support every player that puts on teh jersey.

however, i believe that Phil Jones is extremely overrated by alot of United fans. his all action, tackling style and burst forward cover up huge cracks in his positioning and defending. he cost us alot of goals last season as a center half.

he aint a patch on Smalling IMO right now. of course he is young and can develop, but he has a huge amount of developing to do to be good enough to replace Rio and Vidic.

I agree and disagree with this.

I agree regarding his defensive failings - positioning and being caught out due to his runs upfield, but I don't think he cost us a lot of goals last season - he should have cost us more in that he got lucky that we weren't caught out on a number of occassions, but I'd say the number of goals attributable to his errors would actually be quite low.

As you say, he isn't a patch on Smalling.

I know i have said it a lot but I do think if Vidic had not have gotten injured last season, he and Smalling would have been first choice - it looked like they were at the time of Vidic's injury. Reckon Vidic and Smalling was first choice combo, Rio and Vidic second, Rio and Evans third.

Jones' distribution was the thing to suffer the most in the second half of last season. Became a proper hoofer. Remember the aimless lump behind his back last season at City? Ugh. We ran him into the ground though. He played across a variety of positions and filled in a lot because of injury. I've no worries about him as a defender. Anyone that can put Rooney and Drogba in their pocket has a chance of being half-decent.

Has to be said that Phil Jones is just 20 and is likely to improve a lot in the coming years. He has his mistakes but he possesses a lot of positives.

I'd rather him at United than anywhere else.

    Jones age 20 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Evans age 20.

Jones is potential. Its why he was so coveted by clubs. Just want to see him get over this patch of injuries and get his head down and become the player we all want him to be.

theres alot of talk that Ashley Cole is going to leave Chelsea next summer. he has been linked to us in the past, any of you think it could happen or would he be looking to head out foreign somewhere?

Not really, Evans has only really had one bad season. That was when he was a bit part player. Every season he's gotten a run of games he's been great, Jones hit the rookie wall last year and it remains to be seen if he can do it consistently.

I think he could join United without there being too much fuss. Been lots of movement between the bigger clubs in recent years.

I'd guess PSG. Great Left back and all that he is I'd rather we looked at a long term option. At 31 now it is likely he might not play to the standard of the last few years in the next few.

    De Gea
    Da Silva----Evans----Vidic
    Evra

    Carrick----Rooney----

    Valencia
    Kagawa
    Nani

    v Persie

Rooney hasn't been great in the deeper roles, I believe that is more to do with lack of experience playing there than lack of ability. I hope with more games played in that position he can become less wasteful with the ball and not get caught in possession. I think after Scholes, Rooney has the best range of passing in the team.

I rather Kagawa in the CAM role than Rooney. Kagawa brings more creativity to the attack than Rooney. One of his parents must be spanish!

I think come next summer we need to invest in a CM and CB. I'd love to see us grab Hummels and Schweinsteiger. I think we have great depth in all positions, we just lack a world class cb and cm. I worry Vidic is finished, too many injuries and he's not a young man in a footballing sense.

Great is far too strong a word for Evans. He is still very weak in the air and last season we suffered with himself and Rio being the CB pair for so long.

This is not me saying that Jones or Evans was/are better at 20. I don't think you can judge a defender who is not playing in a settled defence regularly and neither of them were doing that at that age.

For some reason United's formations don't look very stable to me anymore, we have great attackers but too many holes in the midfield and defence. Our mentality this season can be described as "we know you're going to score goals, but we'll score more"

I hope we sign Hummels as well he is world class already with 10+ years still to play.. As much as I'd love it, I don't think we'll sign Schweinsteiger. If he decides to leave Bayern we're talkin' Andy Carrol money  :pac:

This is my favourite Chicharito goal, just the reaction from the players and fans when he scored.

Absolutely love Chicharito. My favourite player at United and arguably one of the best signings made by Fergie in his 26 years at the club.

Lads, is there anyone else at the club with better heading technique???

On a more serious note. I regret little in my life. Ferrari. Model girlfriend. An apartment in every city. I'm currently writing this on an ivory and gold keyboard.

However, I do regret not having children much sooner in life. Especially a beautiful daughter. Then she could be married to Chicharito and I could welcome him into the family. I could serve him dinner on Christmas day. "More turkey, Javier?" "Oh thank you so much, it is the most fantastic turkey in the entire world" And then I would make a joke based on the association of his nickname and the peas being served at the table, and he would laugh. And then we could open presents. He would knit me a nice jumper. Then he would leave my daughter and run away with me to an island. She's only a bitch anways and was never good enough for you my little pea...

What have I done with my life...:(

The man love for Chicharito is at an all time high I'd say...

I dunno, the title run in of 2011 was a particualrly wet time for Chich on here.

I reckon the man love for Chico will be at an all time high next May, right after he scores the winner in the Champions League final.

Place your bets, you heard it here first.

    He's no Michael Owen :p

He is looking very sharp I must say. Still, Rooney and Van Persie should be started in every important game.
