Freeview on mpeg2 tv?

    Hi guys.Just realised i bought a sony bravia with an mpeg 2 tuner.Xbox use mostly but freeview is an attrative plus.Can i use this in ireland to get freeview?I understand saorview is mpeg 4 and freesat uk is mpeg 2 so just taught it might pick up freesat via aerial.Thanks guys.

    Freesat requires a satellite dish.

    If you are in NI or near the border you may get Freeview via an aerial from one of the NI Transmitters.
    If you were able to get UTV/BBC via an aerial before October, you should be able to get Freeview now.

    Freeview is the UK terrestrial service, receivable with a UHF aerial. In Ireland, you'll only get it in areas that have 'overspill' coverage from UK transmitters: this extends quite a long way from the border & along the east coast.

    Nothing to do with satellite tv.
