    Don't some go Red-Flashing Amber-Green?
    Pedestrian crossings only.

Back in the 1920's a group of Irish lads in a New York suburb were not pleased that the British red was displayed above the Irish green when the first traffic light was installed, so they managed to convince the city to hang it upside down.

That is bizarre. Regular traffic lights don't seem to bother the millions of Irish diaspora worldwide.

Being the 20's, a few kicks up the hole from the local (no doubt Irish) cops would have been in order.

Ah here, it might sound strange NOW but back then they probably thought they had a point... let them on, I say.

I think if people object to something (however how small others may perceive it) it's only right to speak up and hopefully, get something done about it.

Nowadays this would be utterly ridiculous but back then, who knows.

their are a few lights that go from red-amber-green in ireland, in dublin!
i know of 3 of them on the way to angier st from sandymount
    makes no difference
everyone shoots as soon as it goes amber
    it also gos green-amber-red
people speed up if its going amber then red haha so they dont have to stop
    stupid system i think
    should just be green red

I am pretty sure I saw these lights in Dublin, I reckon it's more than just three - I remember being amused at how the Dublin Bus drivers would rocket off as soon as the amber light came up - just like bus drivers do in London...

    should just be green red
Going from green to red without an amber, would result in 100% of motorists jumping a red light as it would be impossible to stop unless you're more than your stopping distance away when they change.

Totally agree with this, the stopping time would be too sudden. Also, you'd get stuck halfway out on the junction by the time you'd copped on it had just gone red.

    Yikes!
