Congratulations to Americans on voting to legalise cannabis in Washington and Colorado.

    A victory for all.

And well done to Obama as well

I'm surprised it wasn't legalized in more.

A victory for all? I'm sure the 47% who voted 'No' would disagree.

I really think there is likely to be a domino effect. Cash-strapped states are going to see it as a revenue stream and see that other states are making money off of it.

Sadly, that's the worst possible reason to do it. I mean, nevermind the rights of adults to make informed decisions about how to live their lives....let's just TAX IT because lord knows elected officials aren't going to sit idly by while their budgets are decreased.

Legalised for all or do you need medical reasons?

The divorce referendum held in Ireland in 1996 was won by 818,837 to 809,739.

And that result is also a victory for all.

Divorce is never a victory for anybody.

Considering it contravenes Federal Law, can Colorado and Washington go ahead and approve the sale of Marijuana straight away or will there be a stand-off?

Probably not, but it's certainly better than having to be stuck in an abusive marriage for the rest of your days.

The repercussions to society will be irreversible. It's not about not making them smoke or stopping people having their 'fun', it's about trying to keep some morals and sense of decency in a society which is rapidly falling apart. Some are too pig-headed to see it.

It's just another way of keeping the general population placid and unquestioning. Keep them doped up, they'll stumble around laughing away to themselves while the noose is tightening around the collective neck.

It may not seem it at the time but it's a victory for any child stuck in the midst of constantly warring partners.

    Unquestioning.....Indeed........

Cant see how legalizing another dangerous drug can be viewed as a victory for anything except spudidity!

the 'moral argument is a rather weak one at best, You are free to follow any moral code you wish, but do not expect me to follow your rules, any more than I expect you to view the world my way

so the consumption of weed should be linked to morals and a sense of decency? I think you have it backways who the pigheaded people are

It will be interesting to see how this is implemented and how tightly regulated it is. Ultimately I can see it becoming legalised all across the United states which possibly means the UK and eventually Ireland too. Although thats a bit down the road yet
