I want to explore the MPG of different cars to get an idea of whats efficient and whats not; not an exact science but hopefully will yield some interesting reporting...please include: MPG, year, make & model, engine size, type of driving e.g. country, city, traffic, motorway etc.

    i'll start:

    27MPG, 99 Rover 214, 1.4ltr, city and motorway.

I have an interest in this lately myself.

    Honda civic 2006 ep1 (old shape) 1.4l

I took some tips off an American hypermiler website called cleanmpg.com and have gone from 7.9 l/100km (36mpg) to 4.9 l/100km (58mpg).

All i changed was driving habits, i don't go over 100kph unless necessary, i go 80kph mostly, pumped tyres to maximum sidewall px, treat accelerator like an egg. Lots more small things all on that website.

Just to clarify im not driving like a granny with lines of cars behind me, its just anticipating better. Since i started doing this its actually incredible the amount of people who speed and get pissed off behind people who do the speed limit. not on a high horse or anything i used to constantly break the limit and get angry with 'slow' drivers.

Forgot to say its approx 60% urban and 40% motorway. Also im not relying on the trip computer mpg reading i fill the near empty tank and divide in km's....

    Peugeot 406 D-Turbo 55+mpg long journeys + normal driving
Fiat Bravo 1.2 van 49.1 mpg long journeys + normal driving
Fiat Bravo 1.2 45mpg normal driving + normal driving
Fiat Seicento 1.1 55 mpg normal driving
Fiat Tempra 1.6ie 39mpg normal driving
    BMW 525i 12v 30 mpg long journeys
    Alfa 166 2.5 22 mpg normal driving
Mercedes 280SE 18 mpg normal driving
Iveco Daily 2.8 24mpg long journeys (diesel economy my arse)

Others have come and gone but those are the ones around the house that work I can relate to :)

All brimmed at some stage and tested (some cost a fortune to fill :()

06 VW Golf Plus 1.9 TDI automatic 45mpg (mostly motorway and main road), driving style doesn't seem to have any effect on it as I've tried several different kinds and it still returns roughly the same.

03 E270 petrol 30 mpg mostly motorway, can drop severly if you put the foot down though so gentle is the key.

03 Mondeo TDCi 50mpg mostly motorway and main road.

05 156 JTDm 35-50 mpg depending on how it was driven, loved staying at 70+ mph.

Are you the same person that posted about the mpg on the rover yesterday?

If so you don't have a clue what mpg you are getting as there is zero accuracy in the way you calculate it, so pointless posting it.

If u look up any car you like on spritmonitor.de you will see real life mpg. You won't get accurate data from a lot if the users here as they don't calculate it accurately. Some do but you don't know which ones unfortunately. If you use the figures you get posted here to make a decision on which car the purchase you will be disappointed.

Here is mine toyota Prius 2006 59.7 mpg over 45 tanks and 23k miles.

99 mazda 323, 1.3 160,000 miles. Averaging between 35-40 mpg. Mostly rural roads with a bit of motor way. Rarely go over 100km/h on the motor way as it really gulps it back.

Unlikely to be accurate see the linked below for 181 a4 diesels no 130hp near that figure.

yea its me, i asked people to help me calculate my MPG and they did, thats what i used to come up with 27MPG... if you care to use spritmonitor.de to tell me the MPG of my car id be grateful, i personally cant figure out that website...or how reporting on other cars tells me what my car does? correct me if im wrong... to find out a rough estimate of what MPG i get i divide the total of miles driven* by the amount of fuel consumed...

*total miles driven is based on my daily commute to work over 5 days per week and an average spend of 45euro to cover this.. consideration to average petrol prices used to calculate...

Not too many on the site but they all get very similar mpg average is 35.76mpg.

Which is approx what I got from the two I had.

Well my dashboard tells me that, i dont have to calculate it or anything. I just reset it everytime i fill my car and i only fill it to half tank. I also drive very economical with little reving changing through the gears smoothly and light use of accelerator and still doing the speed limit.

    e46 325ci, computer reads a pretty consistent 25mpg...in reality a lot worse.

Mostly urban driving, and driving it as it's supposed to be driven:D

Have never bothered to calculate the real MPG, sure what's the point at all.
