Anywhere to recover data from banjaxed flash drive?

    Hi all, in a spot of bother. I'm trying to fix a flash drive (usb pen drive/memory stick) and unfortunately I have been defeated :(

    The computer recognises the flash drive but when you click on the drive the following dialog box is returned; "Please return a disk drive into E:". No computer recognises the data on the flash drive and I've tried everything, so I need to hand it over to someone who specialises in recovering data from seemingly lost causes.

    Is there anyone in Limerick who provides such a service?

    This happened me recently - tried everywhere including MicroIreland who were great but no luck getting the data back.

    Lesson learned the hard way :(:mad:

    To be honest, I've a bad feeling this will be the outcome with me too :( Clutching at straws at this stage, hopefully someone out there has had a positive outcome!

    have you tried to mount the drive under linux, far better then windows for this kind of stuff,

    you needn't install a linux OS, just burn a iso to disc, and boot your pc with it in the disc tray,

    many rescue distros freely available, here's one I like http://www.sysresccd.org/SystemRescueCd_Homepage

    Liam at Limerick computers at the groudy roundabour can repair it. He can take the chip and transplant it onto a new usb - allowing for data retrieval , check out the cost first
