Are you charged to change time with Irish Rail?!

    I bought a return ticket online from Dublin to Westport.
    Just realised that I booked the return journey for 7:30pm instead of 3:30pm..

    Do I need to bother changing it or just hop on the train and chance my arm?!

    There is a €10 surcharge to change it.

    Its happened me a few times, taking the 19.00 instead of 17.00 on a Friday evening to Cork. I usually just hop on and nobody ever says anything!

    If caught by the RPU you will be fined. There is a ten euro charge for changing your ticket.
