Aftermarket/ Generic lightning cable

Has anyone tried to buy an aftermarket lightning cable/ adaptor from any of the ebay vendors? I know apple intended to lock these down and control the authentication chips but I presume it's only a matter of time. €30 for an adaptor and €20 for a cable is a bit expensive. Anyone tried the generic ones?
