Record xbox gameplay without pc?

Ok well last year I bought a dazzle and it was good but not great. Since my laptop has broken but I have a pc downstairs so ok for editing. Now my question is can I record gameplay while playing in hd without having it recording straight to a laptop. Can a PVR do this? And how much are we talking for a device that can do…

There's a device called an Avermedia which can do this, it's about the same cost as a hauppage (roughly 200 euro).

TBH I don't personally think it's a great idea to invest too much money in as if you're recording and it doesn't come out right you've no way to monitor...
