18 pages of news! That will keep us going for a while.
We announced our new cover back on October 11, and today we can share with you the release schedule for our December issue featuring Grand Theft Auto V.

In the morning of November 8, we will reveal the cover art and give you a break down of the issue (hint: the story is huge - over 18 pages in print - and full of details and screens we can't wait to share). Then, in the afternoon (US Central time) we will release the digital edition of Game Informer to iPad, 10-inch Android devices, and PC/Mac. Print issues will already be in the mail and should arrive to subscribers in the weeks that follow. Newsstand is November 16.

Game Informer Digital subscribers have access to all three digital editions, or you can purchase the individual issues on iPad or Android for $4.99 (or subscribe directly to those devices through the appropriate storefront for $19.99). Game Informer Digital is available worldwide if you have the appropriate credit card and email information.

The tablet app itself is free for iPad and Android and you can check it out now (including a free copy of the Gears of War: Judgment issue).

Digital subs can be purchased directly online through us (via GameStop) or by visiting a GameStop store location, but it can take up to 48 hours to process (we know it's dumb and are working on it). Please subscribe early if you want access to all the editions. This is the only way to access the PC/Mac editions. Otherwise, iPad and Android are available for purchase instantly. The issue will also be available through Google's Play Magazine app as soon as possible. This supports all Android devices, but currently isn't part of our Game Informer Digital subscription and must be purchased separately. If you are looking for single print issues internationally, please contact customerservice@gameinformer.com (rates depend on location).

So if you live in the US, go vote on the 6th, spend the 7th speculating and getting excited, and then grab your digital issue on the 8th! Everyone else in the world can skip the voting.

Nothing much wrong with any PS3 games I play. Obviously things get better over time but to say it is outdated is a bit harsh. PS2 is outdated but PS3 still looks pretty great.

Also, I dont think games like this are designed with PC gamers in mind.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with ps3 /360 but they came out something like 6 years ago. Computer technology has come a long way since then. I agree pc gamers haven't been the top priority for quite a while, but newer games generally have more custiomisation settings (in terms of graphics /performance) that ps3 / 360 don't because they're simply not powerful enough to run them.

In terms of gta v if it comes out on current gen it will surely have to be limited for consoles. Looking at the trailer/pictures current colsoles just arent capable of that level of detail, number of npcs, even just considering the multiple disk issue (if map size rumours are to be believed).

I could be thinking of a completely different game but I'm sure I remember Rockstar making a comment at some point that the trailer was not rendered on a PC. The screen shots certainly appear to have been but again they will have been cherry-picked to show the graphics positively.

    Can't wait till the 8th!!

Just downloaded GTA3 for me iPhone, there is a good deal on at the moment.

With regards to 18 pages in that mag, I'd say they have stretched and waffled to make the article as long as possible with big ads in between. Rockstar will want to drip feed more screens etc between then and release rather than offloading all info to one mag.

I wouldn't be so sure. Game Informer and R* have a friendly relationship. I'd say Rockstar will definitely be holding out on information, an they'll keep dripping it through for another couple of weeks/months (until release) but I do think that Game Informer will get a lot of info.

Keep in mind that a great big reveal (ie; if they say that it has all three cities, for example*) only takes up one sentence, or about two inches of width on a page, so even if they do give a load of new information away, they'll still have to ramble a lot, or print some full-page screen shots to fill 18 pages, anyway.

But you can't fill 18 pages with just nonsense, thankfully. In return, I expect V, regardless of how good or bad it plays, to get a lovely bit 9.5/10 or something like that.

*I know all the cities won't be in there, just using it as an example

Considering the age of the current consoles, do you reckon Rockstar would consider re-releasing the game again on the next gen of consoles? If they could make suitable adjustments/improvements (even just in terms of graphics) then I reckon they could sell a fair few copies. Especially from people who don't fancy waiting another five years for the sequel to come out looking better?

 im a pc gamer and i love open world games, gta is my favorite game series, if anything games like these are perfect for the pc considering the top of the line tech thats in a modern gaming pc

I played III and VC on both PC and Playstation. Both are a million times better on Playstation as it was designed for console play rather than PC play. The control system is far better (Unless you have an actual controller for the PC of course) on the consoles too.

These particular games (note: not all open world) are not made with PC in mind, but they are made with consoles in mind. That was my point.

eh ive my pc hooked up to my tv with a 360 controller, isnt rocket science either, i have all the gta's on my pc as well as gta3, VC, SA and 4 on my ps2 and 360, they all play the exact same as they do on the consoles (with the exception of being able to mod the games on pc) except they all look better

They play the same because you use an Xbox controller. Play it using the mouse and keyboard and you'll see what I mean.

so the argument is that because the game isnt very well suited to a certain control scheme (m+k) it isnt suited to the pc? i play racing sims with a steering wheel, i play flight sims with a hotas setup and i play arcade racer/ third person shooter with a controller , i use my keyboard and mouse for fps and strategy games, there is no "pc control scheme", the game is the exact same on pc as on consoles end of

I never said it wasnt suited, just that it wasnt made with it in mind. You have just said that you use a console controller to play it. If you need to use a console controller, it isnt designed with PC's in mind, its designed with consoles in mind. Pretty simple. I'm not sure what it is you are trying to argue here.

i could use a pc specific controller and it would be the exact same, the controller isnt the sole domain of consoles, gta 3-SA played and looked better on pc and while gta4 started off as a crappy port on pc it has become the definitive version due to user modding/patching,

the gta games are designed for a controller not any system in particular

Hmm.. that seems legit, to me. So Spring 2013, it is then.

    That seems fair, to me.

EDIT: Rockstar are throwing a hissyfit over on the Newswire too. Lots of warnings not to mention any 'leaks' and apparently they're erasing posts left, right and centre.

They are designed primarily for consoles because consoles are a bigger market at the moment. The PC version of the game is a port of the console version with some added performance boosts.

Rockstar want to make money. Why would they develop primarily for high end PC rigs which would fracture the market because the majority of people don't have high end PC rigs when they could design for consoles and know that they've covered both the console market and the PC market in one swoop?

As you yourself put it in a previous post, it's not rocket science.

tbh the current pc game market is doing amazing, its had a real comeback with indie devs, free to play games, steam, kickstarter etc. gta4 was made with consoles (360 in particular) in mind i just dont agree that its easier or better than playing it on a pc when all it takes is a hdmi cable and a controller to have the same if not better experience.

as for gta5 id hope rockstar would have noticed the resurgence of pc gaming and put some effort into the pc edition

There are crazy Bastards out there who believe that summer starts on June 21st. That's for another thread though.

American Springtime is different than our Springtime. March I think is the end of theirs while April is the end of ours. Where was the store?

    Poland it would seem.

Apparently a London store, but a Polish employee.

I do think it looks extremely legitimate, and R* throwing a wobbler convinces me, but im only starting to think that maybe it may be fake.. reason I'm thinking so is.. how come no one else has the same artwork yet (fear of losing their jobs, perhaps?). Hmmm... I want it to be real though (well actually, I don't, I want a November 2012 release to be real! :P )

So if the posters were for poland then it could still be up until the end of april.
