Listen Yore, you are trying to act smart and are acting like that there are millions are jobs out there and ways for people to better themselves and unfortunately this is not the case.

You are complaining that people are looking down on jobs like cleaners and even a petrol pump attendant and they are not. I worked as a cleaner during college, it took me 1 day to learn what to do so why should someone work at this for 9 months if they have no interest in the area. I also worked in a petrol station. Why should someone be a petrol pump attendant for 9 months when it takes a day to learn? These internships are slave labour and the companies are looking for someone for free.
If the companies do need someone new they can offer it as a job and not through a 9 month internship where they will probably put up the same internship after 9 months and get someone else for free.

There is a serious lack of job oppertunites for college graduates at the minute in Ireland. I know a lot of students who have taking the iniative to apply to companies they would like to work for for an internship but these companies have no interest. A lot of jobs these days they look for people with masters but these are between 3-6k and people just cannot afford them like they used, especially after grants have been taken away.

You also say to do a Fas course or some programming course or some business course like a FETAC level 5. There are tens of thousands of people unemployed with experience and recent graduates and when recruitment companies look at people with Fetac level 5 they will immediately bin the C.V. depending on the role they applied for

If any job in places as you put "people look down upon" are advertising such as a cleaner or petrol pump assistant they receive hundreds of applications for these roles but unfortunately can only hire one person

Your answers to other peoples posts are ultimately snobbish, childish and it seems like you have no idea what is really going on with the job market in Ireland. You think if people stop waiting around they will get work? You are a snob of the highest order and clueless

How do you get all the people with trades working with a family etc? Get them to do a Fetac level 5 course which is of no use to them? Go back to college to do a college degree for four years and then there are thousands of other graduates and people with experience looking for the same jobs? Apply for a job in a restraunt where there is another 500 applicants?

You say you are not living in Ireland anymore so you have no clue what it is like over here anymore. The jobs are not here for people to be hired

    Well said.

And as a case in point. I am currently on an 8-month FAS FETAC level 5 course. For 20 places, 200 people applied. 50 were shortlisted and 20 got spots.

I signedup to www.scambridge.org and got an email from them yesterday saying some place in Tullamore was looking for two interns to work with people with special needs.

This is a blatant example of how jobbridge is filling positions with interns in areas that were cut by the State.

There are 5,000 people on internships at the moment. That is 5,000 people off the live register.

No wonder Jobbridge are being slack on managing the site and the internships that get through. The more people that are off the 'live' register, the better!!! Even if the State are paying for them to be off it!!!

I clearly see this scam forwhat it is, even if others refuse to. Some people need to open their eyes.

I'm currently doing my masters and don't know will I get a job when I finish like all other students. Its not that easy to uptake your skills set when there is 500 applicants applying for the same job you want with more expierence than you. A lot of the graduate roles are now been taking by people who have worked in the same industry for years. If I cant get a job what should I do? Do more courses which I cant afford while paying off my college tuition fees over the next three years?

    :confused::confused::confused:

You're doing a masters. you know you need experience in your field of work but that you will be competing against 500 applicants with more experience than you when you try to look for a job.

Yet you're against a scheme that could allow you to get onto the ladder.

What do you want? A specific law, just for you, forcing any employer to employ "areyawell" over a more experienced candidate? :pac:
How else are you going to get a start?

So you are agreeing with a poster that says a Level 5 qualification will be thrown into the bin and proceed to tell us how you are doing one. :D At the expense of the state as you are so wont to point out. More anon.

That's a good opportunity to bulk up your level 5 FETAC even if you don't think it's going to stay out of the bin.. you might be surprised. Nothing wrong with a FETAC.
There are 5,000 people on internships at the moment. That is 5,000 people off the live register.
Yes, but at the exact same time you'll talk out the other side of your mouth and claim these displace 5000 real jobs. You can't have it both ways. If it's displacing jobs, it's not reducing dole numbers because each internship is taking the intern off the dole and pushing a fully paid person onto it. :P
No wonder Jobbridge are being slack on managing the site and the internships that get through. The more people that are off the 'live' register, the better!!! Even if the State are paying for them to be off it!!!
the same state that paying your benefits and for your FETAC course that you are so dismissive of. Or at least are happily agreeing with a poster who is dismissive of it. LOL
I clearly see this scam forwhat it is, even if others refuse to. Some people need to open their eyes.
Re. opening eyes, see bit about the available opportunities on healthcare in the midlands. You're very clever joining that scambridge site. It must be a great advantage to get the opportunities flagged to your email.

How is this idiot Yoke continued to allow to post when he/she is clearly not making any valid points, just arguing with people. The person does not even live in Ireland and does not clearly have a clue what it is like to try and get a job over her. I made valid points against him/her and yet he/she continues to ignore them even though i was never against them in previous posts but praised the schemes? The poster is talking in riddles which anyone can do and all the posts in their account seem to be slaggin irish people for been lazy or slaggin joboard?

You say I am the against the jobbridge scheme when I am clearly not. I am against the slave labour ones like cleaning and pouring petrol. I will take a jobbridge scheme if it offers me progression in my degree. You also do not realize what the government are now bringing in, A personal development contract where you will be made take training courses or a job internship before you get the dole. Even Enda Kenny said to report schemes like bar work, cleaners, and petrol attendants as they will be taken down from the site. Also he said if you are not working what was outlined in the job spec you can leave the internship.

You are a pathetic human being. Please enlighten me with more of your logic. I am deeply interested!!!!!!!!

I really hope YOKE you come to Ireland, get fired from your job and you will see how tough it is. Are you even an Irish citizen? I dont believe for one second you are working either. No one as snobbish as you would get a job unless you hid your ignorant attitude was hidden in the interview.

Also you say nothing wrong with a Fetac what the **** is that going to get you. You act all high and mighty and I bet you that you are working in a ****ty job trying to make yourself feel better looking down on others.

Oh ignore Yore. Stop feeding the troll.

I had hoped that this thread could continue focussed on specific JB positions, with only minor philosophical discussions on the side. However it appears that a poster is not able to understand that.

I've asekd another moderator to take a look at this case, in case my instinctive reaction about what to do is too harsh.

Until they have time to review it, I'm locking this thread.

    For future reference
    • The advice to "not feed the troll" is good, and
    • If another Jobridge name-and-shame thread is started, it must be 100% about specific positions, and totally avoid all personal comments and discussion of the overall programme.
FYI I've already referred one poster to the site-administrators, who look at behaviour across all forums.
