Why can't people understand that Mannone is our 3rd choice keeper? Pick any teams 3rd choice keeper and they will be dodgy.

Also don't see how we need two full backs as Jenkinson has been doing very well as back up to Sagna. We're pretty stacked in midfield with Jack back and Rosicky/Diaby still to come back, although more quality midfielders is always welcome.

Moreso we need consistant forwards than anything else you mentioned.

Apart from Szcz we have poor keepers. We need to ship out and buy in asap.
You could have 20 great forwards but if your leaking shi**y goals you might as well give up. Giroud is simply not getting the service he needs through poor crossing. It is getting embarrassing now.
Jenkinson is ok but I am worried by Sagna who might leave or not be as good after his second broken leg. We should cover this spot. Santos is bad but Gibbs is not much better in my opinion.
Couldn't see who gave the ball away stupidly in the lead up to their second goal. It might have been Coquelin but not sure. Anyone enlighten me as to who?

    And some proper wingers!!!

As in who though? Very few teams play with what would be considered convential wingers these days, I dont think we need wingers per say we just need more than one creative spark in the team, I dont even blame Giroud or whoever has been tasked to play up front for us this season they have recieved no support majority of the time. Cazorla and Podolski were linking up well the first few games but that has died down considerably.

Pod needs to go upfront and link up with carzola,he is wasted on the wing.why not try theo on the left, his speed at cutting in towards goal could prove valuable, pod is lost out there.

Yeah when I said forwards I was referring to either Striker or wingers.

We've seen before that Fabianksi can do very well if given a run of games (this injury isn't doing him any favours though). It's very rare to see teams with two ( or more) really good keepers, Spurs being the main exception I can think of.

Sagna will be grand coming back, always very solid and professional, however him leaving is indeed a slight concern for the future.

Santos is poor defensively but I think Gibbs is doing very well. Again his problem is injuries so there would be an argument to getting a full back but not necessarily urgently.

Think it was Gnabry who gave the ball away for the second goal.

Our best player gave the ball away in the lead-up to the second goal :pac: Could've been Coquelin.

The first few games of the season I thought we were going to win everything, now I see normal service has been resumed

After disappointing back to back 0-0 draws with Sunderland and Stoke you thought we'd win everything?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,300 ✭✭✭HazDanz

We need another left back. Santos is not a defender.

With Wilshere back I would like to see Carzola put out on the wing so someone can actually cross the ball in to a striker.

When Giroud isn't selected why isn't Podolski put as the main striker for a game or two? It couldn't hurt our chances to score goals based on the last two games to give it a try. He would finish off Carzola's through balls more often than Gervinho would imo.

More of a steady start than a disappointment. Based on a quality solid defense... Really hoping QPR game will kick out this lull the boys seem to be having.

Very disappointed, we need Wilshere back asap. A season that promised much a few weeks ago is falling flat again. Why must I get my hopes up :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,433 ✭✭✭wandatowell

    Well that was sh1t.

How can we be tired after only a dozen or so games so far this season?

The only thing tired is the same old excuses we hear.

I hope the board get ripped a new one at the AGM

Just following updates from John Cross on twitter, apparently the AGM got quite rowdy, not helped by silly remarks from PHW directed at fans and those present. He doesnt half have the knack of saying stupid stuff time and time again.

I really really hope we don't do this. His creativity is badly needed centrally.

Yep, play Jack alongside Arteta and we'd have a brilliant midfield three.

We're going to hammer QPR at the weekend and put the last two games behind us! Come on Arsenal!!!

If we play like we did lately we will be lucky to get a draw.
The players need a good talking to and that obviously does not happen after defeats. They are too comfortable and there is no pressure on them to perform because they know their positions are secure at present. I would have made changes from Saturday's team by dropping players like Santos and Ramsey who are clearly not up to it.

Santos has to go if Gibbs is not fit verm will have to play there weather he likes it or not
I'd like to see ox and gnarby start on the wings give podiski a break with giroud up top

Some rumblings from the AGM starting to come out: http://www.football365.com/news/21554/8193570/Arsenal-Put-All-Their-Eggs-In-FFP-Basket

I'd like to see Gnabry start at the weekend, he looked good when he came on in both matches, he was the only positive I took from last night. it would also heat up the competition for places a bit and maybe give the older players a bit of drive.

Gibbs def out Saturday, hope we don't go with santos I'd even put miquel there

With Gibbs out putting Vermaelen at LB with Koscielny and Mertesacker in the middle would be the best way to go. Vermaelen isnt shy at getting forward so I'm sure he would figure it out. Plus, he has played there before anyway.

For Cazorla, he has to stay in the middle. Him alongside Wilshere and Arteta could be immense. Let Cazorla have a free role to attack, Arteta focuses on the defensive side while Whilsere can alternate depending on the situation. Rosciky and Diaby, when both fit, are great options to have too so Ramsey will need to up his game if we ever have them all fit.

The only problem putting Verm at LB is we will have no threat going down the wing. I agree though putting him there instead of Santos though. It's an open wound at the moment and a repeat of the last two games cannot happen again. It has been embarrassingly school boy stuff down that side for us.

He was poor at LB going forward last season, I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

Arsenal CEO Gazidis: "The objectives of our club are not profit but to have a successful team on the pitch" #ArsenalAGM

Nearly fell over laughing reading that. I see stan has confirmed he intends to take money out of the club rather than spend it. Great news for fans

Terrible performance last night, many fans in the ground are now totally fed up with the direction of club & the team. Many more are going to less games as they feel they are being exploited & taken for granted

BSM had a small demo outside the AGM & there was much anger directed at the Board from irate supporters inside.

Kroenke is just an asset stripper & nothing more, he has no serious long term interest in the clubs future IMO!

I was looking back over the posts before the closure of the transfer window and the amount of upbeat posts regarding expectant deals were amazing. All kinds of names were being linked to make us the strongest in the league. Alas we didn't get any after our early flutter and we are paying for it now. Our panel looks weak and with all the injuries we are very vulnerable.

The kinds of demonstrations outside the meeting will grow if things don't improve. The club should not be about making profits every year while denying the fans success of any kind. 1995 seems a long time ago now.

Arsenal set to sign 25m a year deal with adidas, up from the 12m we currently get from Nike. Can't wait till its in the clubs account with the current 70m we won't spend unless its on a bonus for the board.

Not all Santos fault though. Podolski didn't exactly help out, especially against Schalke. ( I didn't see the Norwich game)
Santos was poor, thats a given, but a lot of the time there was not much he could do. The defensive attitude from the team as a whole needs to change.

I agree with this. In fairness to Santos, yes he was poor, put he was given absolutely no protection from Podolski and then Gervinho in front of him. If you look at Schalke attacking down that side it was nearly always 2 v 1.
