Basically: release your passport and college applications in full before 5pm Oct 31st and Donald trump will give $5m to charity of Obama's choice.

Sounds suspiciously like a ransom note/video but that is just my opinion - what do you think?

Is there some information on those documents that could be controversial?

Also, where is the "stick" part of the deal?
i.e. what happens if Obama does not release those documents.

A non-specified charity loses out on $5m I suppose. And Obama might look like he's hiding something - I presume that is the leverage he is hoping will work.

Find the whole birth cert thing childish and a little but ridiculous but if Obama has nothing to hide then why not release it and let a charity profit from it.

As long as Trump hasn't clearly listed a bullet point list of documents, it doesn't matter what Obama produces, Trump will wiggle out of the promise saying this isn't complete or the third copy in yellow is missing or some shut cr*p.

Just another attention seeker, and he's getting it too - so I suppose he is very clever in his own way.

Think it's more of a matter of respect for the office of president. Trump has consistently accused him of being a Kenyan so if I were Obama, there would be no chance in hell of me negotiating with him(Undoubtedly would happen again). When Obama released his birth cert, birthers including Trump claimed it was false. It's just downright nasty and Trump is using it to get media attention for himself.

We all know Obama released his cert and Trump is at this stage just making a bigger fool of himself but if there's a way that Obama can guarantee that some charity gets a 5 million investment then why not just go with it.
