    what it says on the tin, the case is only in to be mentioned for a small matter and it will not be brought to a conclusion

    Continuing the metallic metaphor, it means they will kick the can down the road to another date so there's no danger the case will actually be heard on the date it's down 'for mention'.

    Usually "for mention" cases are listed to give the court an idea of what's going on in the case and deal with the nuts and bolts (still going) procedural aspects of a case.

    for example there may be some sort of argument over discovery or one party might be applying for an injunction to stop something happening before the case is settled

    dont get me started....... how long is the client supposed to wait for a case to go to court, after 3 years even to get a mention in court is a bonus

    I'm all for more judges and courts to get the process moving quicker. It would just mean more tax. (And more work for wannbe Barristers in a few years :D)
