Im driving a 03 1.4 xzara and today the battery warning light came on. I did drive through a lot of floods on the way home. I went in to do shopping and the car wouldn't start. Would it be the alternator gone or just temporary problem sue to the splashing of the flood waters?

Red light on normally means no charge, I'd say you have an alternator problem.

Agree on the "No charging" part ^^.

However, if you were driving through floods, it's possible that your fanbelt (auxiliary belt) has become wet and started to slip. It might well have been damaged or come off altogether because of the wet. Start by checking it, then start looking at a fault/damage to the alternator.
