I am helping people put in saorview boxes, walkers, edisions, i can, humax and a few others.

A lot have sky piped round to kitchen bedroom etc using rf out and I noticed signal strength varying. 63% in a few houses in ennis but I only got 25% in a house near ennistymon.

So if meter says 63 at first tv will signal detioriate as it goes round house?

And can a poorly aligned aerial give a low reading?

and will picture ok stay at 25% ie no loss in bad weather?

The problem is what does 75% signal strength actually represent in dBuV, does the % figure vary from receiver to receiver. How is the signal quality BER reading.

It's difficult to say how stable the signal is without checking it with a proper meter and looking at the actual readings

It's in the saorview spec page 13 ( large pinch of salt ? )

of course the question then is how well is it implimented (non approved boxes could be anything )

as you know it will also depend on
    what antenna are you using
    how much cable
    how good the connections are

How many dB do RNEL recommended to cater for bad weather ?
do you use attenuators to test the effect of signal loss ?

you could bring a box of your own to contrast and compare
