Oh yeah, so it does. Clickety click!
I found that sometimes after a long ride the light points down by one click. Couldn't find the reason, but probably road shocks.

It's loose. Pull back the rubber and tighten, think it takes Allen key.

I'll bet you feel good now you had the opportunity to speak down to someone.
No, not really. My response was motivated by a fairly recent near miss while driving after dark, in which I nearly hit an unlit cyclist who rode off the pavement and straight across my path at a T-junction. I didn't see him until the very last moment. I guess I was expressing my frustration at the utter disregard that some cyclists and pedesrians have for their own safety. It places an unreasonable burden on other road users.

Since you seem to feel that it's acceptable to cycle around like this, your emotional response to my advice is unsurprising.
you condescending prick. Next time with out the lecture.
    Actually:

"You condescending prick. Next time without the lecture."

    That's better!
    Thanks for the info.
As always on the Cycling forum, you're more than welcome.

Those mistakes were deliberate. I was testing you.

    Thanks again.

    I realise I need to upgrade my lights. I cant seem to decide on how strong I need to go? I will be cycling up in the Phoenix park, and then out by Kilternan all through the winter. I must check the Shield 60. Would something like this be sufficient as a front;
    http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_896469_langId_-1_categoryId_212469
    or the Lezyne mini-drive XL
    http://www.google.ie/url?q=http://www.lezyne.com/mini-drive-xl&sa=U&ei=zPN7UNKZJsSAhQf3wIDgAQ&ved=0CBMQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNEhNg8pvCQJ2DQ6RspK3l7yMw-ewA
The Lezyne looks good in that there is no battery pack to strap to crossbar, but is still re-chargable. Any other suggestions

What about the torches from Dealextreme with mounts for the bars-has any one used one of them or the bright headlamps? Can these be dimmed right down for use on lit roadways? At 1000 or so Lumen, they are not safe to use on lit roads at full beam.

    All help appreciated!

There are a couple of threads on front lights.

I've been running the Lezyne Micro Drive for the last few days but it hasn't been dark enough to need it. I'll post some brightness shots to one of those threads when I have time, but it seems well-engineered and waterproof, particularly the way the usb charging is protected beneath the tail cap, although the on-off button is buried beneath a lot of squishy plastic which makes it a bit tricky to use.

Can someone help direct me towards a rear light that mounts on the frame leg connecting the top tube to the rear wheel hub?
I have a large (ish) saddlebag that cover all the seat post (yes I am a short arse).

You can do two things - clip your light onto the saddle bag, same as I do - see below. The light is the Moon Shield 60:

Or you can install that light on the seat stay, as the light has a good rubber strap included in the kit.

Smart R1 fits OK on seatstays. I got front 35lux and rear set from CRC. Paid €38 last week, but see it's down to €31:

I just picked up a Smart 1/2 watt rear light - comes with a clamp for the seat post and an attachment for the seat stay ,which I think is what you've described above. This is it here - great light for the money.

Seweryn- what saddle bag is that? Looks ideal for commuting. Thanks.

    (Apologies for going off topic)

Thanks for the info. Just been looking at the two threads-the mind is frazzled, dazzled! It used to be so uncomplicated!
I am liking the compactness of the Lezyne.

I sometimes put a Fibre Flare on the seat stay, if I'm not carrying a backpack. Works pretty well and gives visibility from the side as well as the rear.

Seweryn, every time you post a picture of your "winter bike" I hate you a little bit more. :D

Thanks much for the directions folks, appreciate it.

I managed to loose my rear light this am on the trip into work, never heard the clink as it hit the road. It was badly attached so I deserved my bad luck
