    Hi everyone,

I spotted this today on Pigsback.com & was wondering if it is worth buying.
My bfs bday is coming up. He was saying he wanted some tablet but I forget which one.. I am not very up to speed with technology but we both have HTC Sensation smartphones.. Would this be any good do ye reckon? Or am I better off buying something else? I have never even used a Tablet so I have no idea of the usual size or the specs. Thanks!

Its coming from outside the EU, so you'll likely get charged VAT/customs on top of the €89. And will probably take a couple of weeks to arrive.

It is being shipped from outside the EU so you will have to pay about another €27 once it arrives. Plus it will take a while to be delivered.

Personally I'd go for this. Have one myself and can't fault it.

Or if you have more money I'd recommend the Nexus 7.

Oh ya I forgot about Vat & Customs..

Has anyone heard of Asus Transformer? sorry I have no idea..

Yes, the transformer prime infinity is probably the best tablet you can buy, although you'd be looking at about ~€700 for it with the dock. It all depends on your budget really.

Because I don't know your budget, here's a quick summary of good tablets for the price:

    <€100
    <€250
    <€500
    >€500

These are just examples of tablets in these price ranges but they're all really good for their prices.

Pigsback offered a tablet before that got caught for customs, but they refunded everyone that got charged.

Direct quote from the Ops link
This product is being shipped from outside the EU and an additional VAT charge MAY apply. This is payable to An Post on behalf of Customs and Excise. We estimate this charge to be €20.47 plus a handling fee of €6, payable on delivery of the product. These charges WILL NOT BE refunded by Pigsback.com or by Dino Direct

The Nexus 7 is indeed a very good option. It'll get updated to newer versions of Android before other non Nexus tablets will, for the first 2 years of its life anyhow.

However some (like me) are put off by its lack of sd card slot and hdmi out. If this is the case then I'd recommend considering the new Acer Iconia A110 7" instead. Quad core, camera, sd card slot, and hdmi out. Price is about £180 in the UK so definitely a consideration under €250.

i would add galaxy tab 2 to the list

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5088735/Trail/searchtext%3ESAMSUNG+GALAXY+TAB+2.htm

it was much better deal with €30 cashback offer, but it still is ok for the price

it don't have nexus power when it comes to 3d gaming & screen is slightly less packed with pixels but unlike nexus it has microsd slot, rear camera and there is optional 3g

in my opinion - nexus for home use - gamers that want 3d, geeks that can use nas or samba and beginners that don't have too much files to store on it

galaxy if you travel a lot, want either to read, listen and watch plenty of locally stored content or you plan to use 3g

If he wants an Asus Transformer, Amazon have £140 off this one this week only. £359 reduced form £499. Delivery will be free and there will be no hidden charges. If that's the one he's said he wants, you probably won't get it cheaper, and it probably means he wants a 10.1" tablet and not the likes of the one on pigsback which is a 7".

Dam you, would love a transformer but with already having a laptop and 7 inch tablet cant justify it,

    with £140 off though........

I know what you mean. I just got a Galaxy Tab 10.1 yesterday and I'm tempted to sell it already and get the Transformer.

It just seems to tick the sweet spot of laptop replacement

Windows 8 on the horizon does make me want to delay though

That's the older A100. The newer quad core one is the A110.

    Did you use Parcel Motel?

    Sound like a great deal.

Nope, I was living in the UK at the time. But I've used Parcel Motel many times without a hiccup.

I have had one of them. Was playing with it, and had put a custom rom on it. Waiting for it to load up, went to the bathroom, came back, put on the kettle, answered my phone sat down.

    CRACK!

    :mad::mad:

    Now i am looking for glass. I know if i find it, it'll be about €60 - €80 :(
Anyway, i found the W70pro for a decent price, (€87.86 Landed After Duty paid)

    W70 PRO from Pandawill = €71.46 + Free shipping Duty = €16.43

W70 Pro has 1GB instead of 512MB RAM.

    Cheaper HERE

If it gets past Duty, i'm laughing.. About 6 in 10 are caught for me, so i'm going to try a friends address.

I was very interested in the Eken W70 as posted by Aristotle until I saw the Eken W70 Pro posted by Allyall above.

However when I compared specs it seemed the Pro was inferior in some ways. Although as Allyall says the Pro has 1GB RAM instead of 512MB, the processor is listed as slower (1.2GHz instead of 1.5GHz) and the camera on the W70 Pro is only 0.3 Megapixels instead of 1.3 Megapixels on the W70. Also the battery on the Pro is 2300mAh whereas on the W70 it is 3000mAh.

I don't understand why they would bring out a Pro model with inferior processor speed, camera and battery? Can anyone comment on the value of the extra RAM on the Pro? Would it only make a difference if you wanted to do a lot of multitasking? My own feeling is that the extra processor speed should make the W70 more responsive and I would have thought the 0.3 Megapixel camera on the Pro was just a toy whereas I might get some use out of the 1.3 Megapixel camera on the W70? Again with the smaller capacity battery on the Pro I would expect less use between charges?
