    Hi,

Navigon are rolling out their Traffic Live service to their iPhone Navigon sat nav software. They use inrix as their traffic provider. From Navigon:
The NAVIGON MobileNavigator display also provides detailed information regarding the severity of the incident and the speed of traffic flow.

Our Provider INRIX uniquely aggregates and intelligently combines real-time traffic speed information from hundreds of thousands of GPS-enabled commercial vehicles, GPS-enabled consumer vehicles and mobile devices, and traditional road sensors in Europe.

Unlike with TMC or TMC Pro, the information is given in real time. We receive this information from various sources, such as NAVIGON Live users and various floating car partners (Floating Car Data). This enables us to find out further details in addition to the traffic reports, such as the current traffic flow speed on motorways and main roads, and to continually receive current, reliable and accurate information on the traffic conditions.

The real-time data comes from a combination of several valid sources. For example, we also work with various floating car partners. These partners also give us information on the current traffic flow speed. Combined with additional traffic data sources (sensors) providing traffic reports, this provides us with extremely reliable data that offer ... Read moreusers real added value.

The service is actually available in following countries: Belgium, Germany, France, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, Austria and Sweden. Switzerland, UK, Spain, Italy will follow asap. It will not be necessary to install the service again, the countries will be supplemented automatically as soon as the service is available.

So does anyone know if this will include Ireland? How they collect traffic info would mean we could get it in Ireland. But when they reference UK, I'm wondering do they also mean Ireland.

    Anyone know?

Inrix updated to version 4.0 for Android, they are currently at 4.1.3 for the iPhone. The older version worked well, I updated to version 4 Android today and was horrified to see that the app has completely changed. There is now a lack of street names, map not refreshing for ages and I mean ages, route not shown very well on the screen. There seems to be a lot of buttons missing compared to the iPhone version. I'm going to wait a few days to see if there is any fix, if not I will uninstall as in current form it's totally unusable

After I contacted the developer with screenshots from my phone they checked it out and decided to pull the update. They are now back to the previous version 3.0.8 so everything is cool now. I downloaded the previous version last evening, it was good to see that they acted quickly when made aware of the problem. Wish every app developer acted a quickly.
Apparently they released an unfinished version prematurely, from the look of version 4.0 there will be big changes making the app much more versatile. Can't wait for a fully finished and tested update.

INRIX have now released V4 for Android and this time it's working as it should do. As I pointed out above V4 was released prematurely and was indeed very bad where you couldn't see street names etc. I'm sure that there will be another update to bring us in line with the one currently on the iPhone. Android V4 has most of the features found on iOS version 4.1.3 but the screen looks differently. I find it very useful for up to date information about lane closures, road closed etc. It also has a feature where you can change the departure time to see if that changes the time of the trip around peak times.
The pro version (€20.41) allows you to input several Places whereas the free version limits you to 2 e.g. Home and Work but this is not a problem as you just change the Work address to the address of your destination.
When entering destination by the address method I found a bug that you can't change the default address (200S Main St. Seattle, WA 98104) which means that you have to select your destination on the map. Hopefully this will be corrected in the next update. I have emailed INRIX about this problem so they are aware of it.
IRIX is much better for traffic information that Google Maps which seems to mostly have traffic information for Dublin and not other cities such as Galway where congestion is a problem during peak times. When I look at Galway traffic in Google Maps I usually get the 'no traffic information here' GREAT!! So it's back to INRIX
