Now I ain't no homophobe, BUT...

Why do gay pride parades have to be so gay? I mean if you want conservative folk to accept homosexuality, why would you prance around the streets in fish net stockings and drag queen costumes and bikinis etc.?

Gay parades are fine but the more outrageous they are the worse it'll become for the LGBT community. It will just provoke the homophobes.

    Just a thought...

Any gays here that can add their opinion?

Google transgenderism. The LGBT Pride Parades aren't just about gay people, they're about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual AND Transgender people and others who want to express themselves for who they are.

By the same train of logic, one could argue that hot girls in bikinis parading down O'Connell Street provokes heterophobia.

    Yours truly,

Why do St Patrick's parades have to be so stereotypical and plastic paddy?

Why is Easter all about the chocolate and Christmas all about the gifts?

Why is every celebration not more subdued and serious?

Because it's about gay PRIDE. Ie, being as 'gay' or flamboyant as they want and being accepted to be so, because they were discriminated against for so many years.

In other words, they were repressed, so they are going to be as flamboyant as they want on that particular day, to show that they are proud of who and what they are and nothing is going to stop it. It's not about seeking acceptance, it's about celebrating their freedom.

I'm all for having the crack I mean craic... And I do support gay rights. But is shoving a hairy old-man-arse with a g-string into a grannies face the right way to go about promoting gay rights?

Being gay is being attracted to the same-sex, it's not a gauge on how flamboyant you are.

OP, I'm getting a little bit of a homophobic vibe from your posts.

Maybe post in the LGBT forum, you might get some decent answers there.

You missed Queer...parades are about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual AND Transgender people AND Queer (meaning any sexuality that isn't Vanilla)

So OP - feel free to show off your own peccadilloes (fnarr) at the next one!

Absolutely. I think the flamboyancy could be more of a 'fúck you' to anyone who has or does discriminate against them. I know all my friends that participate in Pride parades deliberately dress as 'camp' as possible, to make people who are homophobic as uncomfortable as possible, as there is nothing legally that can be done now that homosexuality is legal.

Homosexuality itself is a direct result of secret inoculations done by the forbidden group on women in Europe and it's colonies. It's awfully convenient how sheeple such as those affected with this man-made virus should then go on and be happy and proud about it - it covers the forbidden group's tracks perfectly.

What would you do if you saw a hot girl in a g-string shoving her arse into your face? Would you complain?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Who are you to judge for others the beauty of a sexy arse belonging to hairy "old" man.

Fair enough but it won't go down well with the people who hate homosexuality ie. conservative religious people ie. a sizeable chunk of Ireland!

There must be a better way to show Ireland that LGBT folks are nothing to be afraid of.

I imagine the flamboyance is a marketing tool, they get more numbers that way. I'm sure the organisers are more concerned with the important issues they are trying to bring to light than the leather chaps.

Yes, but those homophobic people can't do anything about it (legally, anyway), which is the whole point.

I highly doubt that gay people are trying to convince all the homophobes to accept them. They have legal acceptance now, which is the most important thing.

I'm not calling you a homophobe. I'm saying that your posts are reading a little homophobic.

Some of my gay friends like gay pride and some don't, it's aimed at certain people so if they enjoy it, why not? Oh this reminds me i have a white pride parade to go to soon, best get looking for a new outfit.

I worked with two gay lads and many a time I heard one of them say to the other "You're so gay" ... So I think it's also a slang for flamboyancy, right?

Wouldn't worry about the G-Strings. I have an uncle who without fail rants at the television every time he sees a man wearing a pink shirt. Now that's a true fossil!

In other words it's to create division, and you think this is a good thing? Those that organize the events (33rd degree Masons) certainly do, but they do on a conscious level. Sheeple like you do on an unconscious level, just as you've been programmed to by the media as adhering to the forbidden group's agenda.

But don't gays want to be accepted in society and have the same rights as everybody else?

Why would they deliberately provoke in the strongest way possible the very people who would vote against them?

It translate as being "You're so stereotypical!"
