Hi, I live in a 3 bed end of terrace two-storey house - constructed about 15 yrs ago - wall construction is 225 hollow block with dabbed-on polystyrene insulated plasterboard overall wall thickness of 300mm.

Wall vents consisted of hole in wall with galvanised grille outside and closeable white plastic grille inside - i have since fitten 100 pvc pipe and insulatel all round with quilt insulation to stop airflow from passing behind plasterboards and out at skirtings, sockets etc - result has been good.

I now wish to fit new vents t o further improve - ie reduce/control airflow when there is a gale blowing and reduce noise from outside.

    Any advice appreciated tks.

Aereco do a unit which will fit existing 100mm wall vents. They have a humidity sensor which when used in kitchens etc they can open/close to suit the conditions. The sensor is nylon and expands/contracts itself so it doesn't need a power supply. Do a search for aereco and you will get info on their website. Heatmerchants stock them at times. You can also add an insert to reduce noise levels.

    Mark.

Vent Axia alos do a single room fan powered heat recovery fan with has an impeller fan which does similtainious supply and exhaust. Its a 100mm dia core which runs on trickle mode with a cord for boost. Could be the job, have specified for renovations.
