Nissan Almera 1.5 - Likes petrol

Hi Folks, I recently got a 2004 Nissan Almera 1.5 petrol. seems very hard on petrol. Is there anything I can change to get more mpg, I'm not heavy with the right foot either. No way a 1.5 petrol can be so under powered and thirsty.

Any figures ? It would be fairly normal to expect 35 mpg tbh

Shouldn't be heavy really , have you checked what mpg you're getting ? Maybe it's just the cost of the bloody thing. Otherwise do a service, change the air filter etc and it should improve

I had it serviced at the local Nissan garage just after I bought it, Last week I decided to blow out the air filter and found they are soaked in oil.

If the air filter was replaced in the service (it should at least have been checked) then you have a problem. Any chance there might be too much oil in it?

35mpg, any less ud be as well in a sunny. Apart from the ncap problyw

Edit, you are heavy footwdr, and.1:5 is underpowered.

OP, what makes you think it is drinking petrol? How have you measured it's fuel usage up to now? What are you comparing it against?
