Does Ryanair allow boxes as hand luggage?

I have a box containing a cd-player separate, and I'm going home in a couple of weeks and I want to take it with me on the Ryanair flight.

I'm wondering if anyone can think of any reason why it wouldn't be allowed on? It is within the dimensions and weight. My concern is that it isn't technically luggage, in that it is not contained within a bag or suitcase.

Any thoughts? I don't want to pay the additional fees!

as long as it is within the specified dimensions (you'll find them on the website) it will be fine.

As long as its your only piece of hand luggage then it should be fine. Remember, carrying on a camera is deemed hand luggage to them.
