VW Passat 1.9 TDi 03 boot won't open without key.

Folks, Looking for help here. My VW boot will not open on the key fob or with the handle by the drivers door. Nothing happens, no sound nada ! I have to manually put the key in. Any help folks would be great. Thanks for input.

The electric actuator gives trouble in them. They are cheap enough from the dealer.
