I'm talking about the 330 or so ml cans of beer you get in America and Asian and some other places but not in Ireland.

I really think we should have them here. Many benefits.
    • You don't have a load of warm beer at the end of the can.
    • You can pace yourself better
    • They'd be cheaper for giving a can to a mate or whatever
    • Better for being able to have many different beers in the one night

I'm sure there are more benefits to this too.

No they should be got rid of. They're like "fun"sized cans of coke, only leave you gasping for more.

They do actually have them here, they serve em on ryanair and the trains at prices that are too high even for a pint. Horrible yokes, wonder how many people get caught out thinking they're buying a pint because you see so few of those cans here

    Easier to catch.

    They already exist

Thinly veiled <I'm a midget and want to have a proportionate sized can of alcohol please> thread.

I propose cans that are the size of a tube of Pringles. I like to have more of things.

Loads I say. On Ryanair they blow up the image on the menu, so you think you're actually ordering a proper drink.

Sounds a bit cooler to say..want a stubbie mate as opposed to..fancy a can.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,162 ✭✭✭✭Degag

Are they actually called Stubbies or did the OP make up the name?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭aujopimur

If you're ending up with warm beer in the end of the can, you're not drinking fast enough.

I thought stubbies were the little holders Australians put their cans in, to keep them cool in the summer - not generally a problem in our summers.

What are the large bottles the Yanks have?

Not quite a litre but not far off.

    Quart?

You see the youngsters drinking them on US cop shows

To me, a a stubby/stubbie is a bottle not a can. Like described here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_bottle#Stubby

You do see 330ml or so cans around, though from what I have seen mainly Heineken and Budweiser.

They are smaller than 330 ml. A standard can of coke in Ireland is 330 ml.

A stubbie, isn't that what stinks our pockets out if not put back in the box

We have them. But they're made of glass though and they're all bottley and ****. I call them scuzwazzers.

They're a bit like "tester pots" of paint.

Not a chance, you take a few sups, then shake the can a little and think there's only a little left and neck it. Gone in about 5 gulps!! Real cans all the way please.
Very hard to find in New Zealand. Most beers are sold in stubby bottles here.

Dont like them. Its mostly foam and i always gag when i take the last sip of them as there is too much foam.

reminds me of being in the states with yanks saying "Oh my god im so wasted Ive had like 10 beers!" while appearing fairly sober.

oh ten of them little beers....

so youve had about 6 pints...shut up.

Quart is what the American's call a naggin.

Think you're thinking of a 40 (40oz bottle of malt liquor)

God bless Kaiserdom and their excessively large cans.

I thought the Stubbies were the little bottles of beer from places such as Lidl and Aldi.

I got a case of Bulmers 330ml cans for the Spain vs Italy game during Euro '08. I was pissed by the time the shootout started. I find you drink those little cans at lightspeed for some reason.

    330ml cans. Pffttt

Up and down to the fridge too often and out of sync with trips to the jacks.

    More hassle than they're worth.

*Disclaimer - any port in a storm

Few things more frustrated than an amazing beer Sierra Nevada being just a 12oz (355ml) bottle. :(
