Like a book, an iPhone or a new version of Windows? Never done so myself couldn't get excited over these kind of things. The price of the kind of thing people queue up for tends to drop fairly fast anyway

No but I remember pre ordering WWF Attitude for the Playstation months in advance in Smyths in Cork. Don't think it ever sold out!

I hate queues, the only place I ever join one is the bank, feel dirty and sick afterwards.

Surely only apple fanboys and children (for Harry Potter etc) do this?

Microsoft fanboys as well. Queues are common for the release of a new version of Windows or a new gaming console

    I didn't know that!

I did for the last Harry Potter book. I was going to do it for Skyrim, but decided to skip the queue and just get it off of Steam and play it straight away.

Unless we're counting going to the cinema, then I doubt I've done it for anything else

There'll be queues for the Hobbit films on first showing, guaranteed. Never queued for anything like that myself though. If I want it I just wait and get it when the hype has died down a bit.

I recall queues for Windows '95 in Virgin Megastore, think the following is a clip from it:

I think what's worse is whoever is at the top of the queue and buys the product first invariably ends up on the front of some rag celebrating as if they won the lotto.

Something weird about being the first to buy a new product is deemed to be something of an achievement.

Nope and never will either, especially nowadays when most things can be bought online for way cheaper!

It's fcuking weird, why not wait at home til the queue disperses

when you've become that kind of product monkey there is no hope

The only thing I queued for that I genuinely didn't mind waiting ages for was when the Vince Lombardi trophy (aka the Super Bowl trophy) was on tour of Indianapolis after the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2007. I was over visiting at the time and got wind that it was appearing near by. Queued for about two hours or so but it was worth it

Got a couple of autographs from some cheerleaders too

The last Harry Potter book, Battlefield 3 and COD MW3. Can't think if I did for anything else.

Cheerleaders give autographs now? I thought they were expendable nobodies that nobody gives a damn about besides for a bit of perving? Never heard of a famous cheerleader before (unless they moved on to doing porn maybe)

FFS, now I have that Boyzone song stuck in my head.

    You bastard!

    It really is

I know it is, hence the clear sarcasm, was it really that hard to pick up?

Whats wrong with having a passion for something anyway, queuing up for concert tickets wouldnt be seen as "Sad" would it?

That really depends on the concert, tbh.

Only thing that I queued for was tickets for Eminem at slane, didnt even want to go, but Oxygen was sold out.
Got sitebanned on my first post on my first two accounts here trying to swap/sell the tickets for Oxygen ones, and then yer man cancells the gig...

    Yes it would

A man of few words is Youssef.

How is queuing up for tickets for a concert sad? If you really like a band you'll do anything to see them, queuing up for a few hours is a small price to pay.

I predict you're reply will be- "Its not a small price to pay."

Queued for Gears of War 2 and Mw2.
Never queued for anything since. If I have it pre-booked,I know theres copy waiting for me so theres no real need for it.
