They used to ring our house a lot. It got to the point that my dad answered and said yea he does have a problem.

Cue them talking him through a "fix" for his computer for about 10 minutes. He then stops and says " ah hold on, I don't have a computer, sure this is a microwave..."

They just hung up and we have never heard from them since.

    Definately doing this next time!!

Gonna ask them does my ping sound right when the timer counts down. :D

Can you get the number blocked at all?

I forget the number, I think it starts with a 019 though. I'll write it down tomorrow. Doubtless I'll get another one in the morning. Sometimes I treat myself to a nap mid morn and the cnuts keep waking me up:mad:
Does the number come up on your caller id? Tell them your Nigerian Prince who is giving you a bit of money will sort them out :D

Some Asian sounding fella rang the house phone about a year ago. I couldn't really understand him. So i just hung up. Never heard from him again.

Managed to keep one on the phone one day, preteded i was an OAP and told him hold while i got my glasses and left him there for 5mins on hold

Then he wanted me to press windows button, couldnt find it and told him my computer was Apple made.

Kept him on for about 15mins. :)

Another time, i answered and told him **** off and hung up.

I love it, that's my next one!

I've strung them along before when the mood strikes, other times I just hear "this is Robert/Richard....." and I just say "Go eff yourself" and hang up (I always get Robert or Richard for some reason)

Received a call from these guys ages ago, probably have a call center based in the middle east or around that general area or elsewere, just like phonejacker lol .They claim they work for windows and that they want you to install some software(malware) from there website, also I don't know the websites name if you're wondering, the other method is by typing in a command however that works , did my homework beforehand and found out about the scam and I hung up on them. Once again they called up the following day and did the same order of business and I just started throwing swear words at them and roaring at them as if I stepped on some lego just to see what might happen, and they didn't bother me ever since >:D

My boyfriend managed to be so annoyingly (but consciously) computer illiterate that the person ringing got pissed off and hung up the phone on him. I loved him just a little bit more because of it. :D

I would like to put them and hold for 3 hours with some elevator/screamo music ,to see how long they would wait ,but don't want to discover a big triple digit phone bill for me . :D

My sister who isn't computer literate at all got taken in by this almost 2 years ago. She had rung microsoft the week before and assumed they were ringing back. She lost 230 euro and had to cancel her card. I nearly died when she came home saying she had got her computer fixed. She was so lucky not to have her cards maxed out!

I told them they had a wrong number and I didn't have a computer - problem solved - no more calls.

I used to get these calls a lot. They pissed me off most of the time but occasionally I would have some time on my hands so I would have some fun with them.

Example 1: the guy goes through his spiel. I say "oh, ok, I'll go and turn on my computer". I leave my already-booted computer for 10 mins and go and make a cup of tea. Next he tells me to go to Start > Run. I use a Mac so I go "sorry, but I can't seem to find the start button". After repeating himself a dozen times I keep going back with the same answer. He tells me to find the "four flags button" on my keyboard, to the left of the keyboard. I say "nope, I just see a button with a little picture of an apple there". I had to repeat that about 3 times before the penny dropped; he mumbled something and hung up.

Example 2: guy goes "hello sir, I'm calling from Microsoft technical support. I see on my screen here that we have detected a problem with your computer". I say back "oh yeah? Well I also work for Microsoft technical support and I have detected a problem with YOUR computer". The guy paused for a moment and then says, and I quote: "oh, oh, oh, you rascal, you devil, you motherf*cker!" and hangs up.

I nearly lost the plot this morning with one of them, amongst my splutterings I threatened to call the Guards. Fcuk sake, sure they prob hadn't a clue who 'the guards' are. I'll have to think of a better threat.

Tell them you will make a low budget movie criticising their prophet unless they stop. That should do it.

I'd be livid if I thought someone actually fell for this.
Same here. But if it never worked, why would they keep doing it at their own expense? This has been going on for years. The only conclusion I can draw is that a certain amount of people are getting scammed.
It makes me sick to think they're robbing people and getting away with it.

It's not even that hard to immunise people against this... anyone calling you about a virus (or other problem) on your home computer is full of shit, end of story. It's as simple as "don't accept lifts from strangers".

I got a phone call today and I hung up on him, he rang back, I told him that I worked for microsoft and he started asking me for my i.d and all that crap, I told him were to go and started giving out s**t to him.

He rang back later on and my sister answered. He asked could he speak to her daughter that it was her boyfriend calling.... I now have an Indian boyfriend... lucky me

Ring Eircom and get your number taken off the Direct Dial Database. Problem solved.

I've a guy called Frank Garrett from Stillwell OK ringing me daily. He's very abusive and refers to me as stoopid cawksucker. Apparently he thinks I'm ringing him.

Why are you getting so worked up over it? Just put the phone down and leave them talking to themselves for a while. Or get caller ID like every other person in the country.
