Have actually been looking for a good falafel place, had one away recently and have now got a hankering for more. Must check that Dame St. place out, as I was surprised to discover Zaytoon don't serve them.

    Little Jerusalem in Rathmines?

They even do takeaways, I'm surprised to see, as I didn't see it advertised anywhere around the shop.

If national cuisines were Top Trump cards, Japan would be the top most trump. Indeed most Asian countries are forces to be reckoned with. Italy would be pretty good, certainly able to fend off most competition from Europe and Americas (would put up a good fight with Mexico though). Irish food would be that dud card that doesn't beat anything, except maybe countries consistently ravaged by famine and food borne illnesses.

I dunno dude, I've eaten a lot of Japanese food over the years (in Japan) and it's great but I really like a proper Italian dish. My current favourite type of food is Lebanese but that's only from Lebanese restaurants as I've never had it "in country" and you absolutely cant say you've really had a particular type of cuisine unless you've eaten it locally where its from.
Restaurants are great and I live in the feckin things but they are rarely even close to the real deal. My GF wont ever set foot in an Italian restaurant in Ireland any more as we've tried loads and they are just Italian style and not, once again, the real deal.

Only Lebanese place I've eaten is The Cedar Tree - and my god was it good! I was absolutely stuffed leaving that place. keep meaning to go back.

I've been there an embarrassing number of times over the last 4 or 5 years :o
Good tasty non diet food, great hosts and they really look after you. And importantly they remember you when you go back and you get "extra" looked after if you're a regular customer.
Noura in London is also damn good.

Irish food has one trump card in it's deck - A full Irish breakfast. The greatest meal known to man.

    We also have the Spiceburger!

Boojum is the best buritto place though (none of the others measure up) They're super efficient as well. You get your food so quickly.

The funny thing about Chinese food and real chinese food is that real chinese food isn't smoothered in the MSG loaded sauces you get in even the nicest chinese places here do. Was taken to a tiny chinese place in New York run by a chinese family by the HG101 guys, the guy that knew the place has a chinese girlfriend and she said it's the only good chinese in New York. All the food we got as amazing, really tasty but not a sauce in sight. Loads of awards and New York Times mentions were on the wall yet it looked like a cheap take away place.

When my mam was in China as well she said they never use any of those sauces they just stir fry everything and add spices and strong flavours to taste.

Chicken balls: a guilty treat, but about as Chinese as Glenn Beck.

Shouldn't there be a sister eatery called "Snark"?

Indian food is my weakness, I love the stuff.

Though if there was a CoCo Curry House in Dublin they wouldn't be able to fit me out the door at this stage. Japanese comfort food is the best of all.

Anyone been to the Mongolian Barbeque on Anglesea St.? Was rather impressed with the place.

@enternow: Hong Kong kitchen is my local :D they give such big portions too which is nice.

Actually haven't been to boojum but nicest burritos I ever had we're in Pablo picante. Burritos and blues are delish too. Personally I love Thai and Mexican food. As much as I love Japanese food, there's quite a few Japanese dishes that I wouldn't eat.

As for irish food My nanny made the most amazing stew ever! That's the only thing I'd really eat and would be proud to call Irish. Coddle is the most rank substance I've ever had the misfortune to taste.

I kept meaning to go there, until I realized you have to assemble your food!

I really don't like restaurants which have you work to get your food. I even don't like going to Nandos, where they don't serve you at your table and you've to go up to order it. (Their chicken is great though)

Just let me sit down, give me a menu and don't make me stand up until I leave :pac:

I do go the odd time but my GF goes there fairly regular with her workmates as they work 2 mins from the place.
I like the idea of it but must stop over spicing my food and handing it to the guy to cook it, it burns the eyes :)

I feel I'm not doing it right every time I'm in there. They have a great selection of spices and sauces there but I find the minute it hits the grill it gets burnt off and all they really gets left behind is five spice or chilli.

And then there's what happens when some prick poisons his food with chilli and it ends up stinging the crap out of your eyes.

I'd love to know how to prepare the food right rather than make a mess of it myself.

I was at Korean BBQ a few time over in Nippon and seemingly the difference between perfectly medium and a burnt mess is about 0.5 seconds.

DIY Okonomiyaki in restaurants is another... interesting experience.

I really do like Korean BBQs. Was at a nice one in Dublin and then two while at New York. They weren't quite DIY though they just cooked the stuff on the grill in the table.

It depends on what PSP you have. The older ones you can't do it. Is this about your PSP screen because if so you could buy a new shell and I'll try and fix it if you want?
John is giving mine back to me Thursday hopefully. I'd just like the choice of having it on a bigger screen when I'm at home like. How long have I been saying it was going to get fixed though and it's still not, same with the DSi

had a go of the wiiU tonight, its lighter than you expect, kinda flashy and confusing.. you dont know whether yo should be looking at the screen or the controller. Played tank tank tank on it. its ok, another whizamajig maybe, like the kinect, that seems great at first, but quickly you realise its just a gimmick.

Played Ni No Kuni , beautiful game, im not 100% sold on the gameplay but the graphics are absolutely beautiful. made by the same lads that done spirited away amongst other films. the graphics are very impressive, cartoon like. things i noticed in my 30mins of playing. main guy is like stretch armstrong, lots of big boobs. reminded me a bit of citys of gold.

also played sniper 2, and tekken tag . tekken tag is good. Teken x streetfighter is on the way, looking forward to that. also had a look at the star trek game, set in between the new film and the sequel. The Gorn are the enemies in it and you play as kirk or spock, looks a bit like mass effect.

Got some sweet namco tshirts and a brilliant pacman usb key too. great night put on by namco bandai, probably the most enjoyable one of these ive been to.

Also got talking arcade with one of the lads.. made a good contact there for a possible future grail cab purchase!

Disclaimer. it was a free bar tonight. so take everything with a grain of salt.

Didnt know Studio Ghibli were involved in the game, you could tell it was made by Level-5, very Laytonesque

Ah yes, I remember the days, getting to go to these things.
I was at the Xbox launch party.. very awesome, the PS2 one and the Dreamcast event, in the Capitol Bar, brilliant laugh, got a little Dreamcast bag.... used it to hold my Sony PSP games for years, as a subtle irony....

ive gone to a good few of these things, everyone usually goes about their business playing this and that. this one was great though, everyone mixed together, we had a tekken tag tournament. its was brilliant. we all had a laugh. normally its a bit clicky, not the case this time. hats off the bandai\namco the lads where great they sent along.

So the big question - is it worthy of a launch purchase?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,400 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

well, based on only playing tank tank tank its a DEFINATE no. the graphics where not that great, im talking top of the wii scale graphics. nothing compared to the 360 or ps3.

I would have overlooked the graphics, if it actually had online multiplayer. Seriously, the game just screams it, just by looking at it. And I'm not exactly a local player.

Is there any word on it getting online multiplayer? Tank!Tank!Tank!'s what I'm most looking forward to on the Wii-U.

The PSP kind of looks terrible on a TV. Looks much better on the screen.
