firebird super q with a gx5 burner

hi
i have a firebird super q and returned from holidays today and wife felt cold so tried to knock on heat but it was locked out.oil level is ok .tried resetting but it was buzzing ,so i tried a new capacitor but no joy.took of the air cover and tried pushing the fan with a screwdriver and it started turning but at no great speed and locked out .is the motor or pump caput?

try taking pump away from motor then run the motor this will conferm that pumps working, does sound like pump is stuck or seased when you hear that buzzing sound its usually the motor trying to turn so some thing is stopping it.

hi thanks for reply i tried that but motor does not pick up too much speed.so it looks like a motor prob.am i better of getting new burner or just motor?

how old is this unit you are looking at spending approx 100 eur on a new motor then you need to pull fan to fit new motor without the proper pullers its possible you will damage this fan and need to purchase a fan as well new burner approx 300 euro
is it worth spending this money if unit is old if your confident of doing the work yourself
nice saving to be made i suppose you could try squirting some wd 40 on the front bearing where motor and pump are coupled it may work short term/long term it works sometimes but not always

tried wd40 no luck.the burner is about nearly 10 years so prob best to replace?

up to yourself but i personally would not put a motor on a 10 year old burner you are well into the lifespan of motor/pump pump could let you down in the near future and then you have spent the price of a new burner i would think new burner is best option
but only if your sure motor has packed in but it sounds very much like it has from your
posts and the fact you have tried new capacitor and motor still will not run even uncoupled from pump dont forget new burner will have to be set up correctly to suit your boiler oil pressure air setting you really need somebody with flugas analyser and pressure gauge to do this for you
