I agree... would be nice to have the 3 of them in because i can see Torres doing well if he continues his form... still a big "if" IMO for now anyway! The only way i can see him coming into my squad now is to completely sacrifice my defense which i cant justify either! There's plenty of other options for a 3rd striker that will score well over the course of the season!

I've got Graham in at the moment and still plan on holding onto him for another couple of weeks as i can see him finding form with the midfield he has feeding him!

There are more cheap defender options that could keep up with expensive defenders than there are cheap striker options that could keep up with Torres.

I totally understand the stigma behind Torres - but as things are, Chelsea are playing superbly in the league and Torres has remembered how to score. Chelsea are currently a better prospect in the league than United, so I could use the exact same argument (possibly to a greater degree because he's 3m more) against van Persie. I won't though, because I don't buy into the argument.

There was a time when Torres could go a dozen games and we wouldn't be surprised if he failed to score. But now, he's got 2 goals in the last 2 games, with an assist and 4 bonus points. His next 4 games are against the worst team/defence in the league so far (QPR), two home games against very beatable teams that don't travel well, and then a derby with Arsenal where anything can happen. All this while he currently has no competition for the lone striker position.

I honestly think there's way more to lose from not having him, than what's to gain from having a slightly better defender at the back to replace him with a weaker striker on less form.

I've stayed away from the fantasy footy for the past while, just after pulling the trigger on the wildcard, missed out on some money in the price rises but ara, I'm happy enough with the team at the min.

    Jaaskelainen

    Cuellar--Distin--Rangel
    Cazorla--Ben Arfa--Toure--Hazard
    Torres--Podolski--Tevez----

    Begovic--Sterling--McAuley--Demel

I already used my wildcard last gameweek against my better judgement so it would take me at least 4 free transfers over the next few weeks to bring him in by which time he will more then likely have increased a fair bit again and the best defense i could come up with just with a quick look there was

    Begovic----Jaaskelainen

    Clyne---Clark---McCartney---McAuley---S Taylor

31.5 mil in total and it would leave me with absolutley nada in the bank! You might be right about it but i cant justify that defense just to have Torres! The only way i could improve is to downgrade a midfielder but im happy enough with Hazard, Cazorla, Michu, Pienaar, and Kacaniklic.

Should I be looking at Jenkison or Reid in that back line instead?
Is Distin a bit of a chancy move?

Without a WC, you're absolutely right it'll be harder, and I don't really have an easy solution to offer there. I'm more talking about people with free reign to swap players out.

For me, I've got a fairly solid defence with United, Arsenal, Swansea, Stoke, and Fulham covered. Then West Ham, which should be a semi-reliable 5th choice defender. Even if I dropped Torres for a 6-7m striker, that defence wouldn't change. Where I fall down because of my pricey front 3 is on my 4th MF spot, where if I keep my current team, I'll be rotating Sterling and Guthrie.

Saying that, I kept 0.7 in the bank, and could drop Rangel (5.1m) for a cheaper Swansea option, which could leave me around 5.5-6m for a better 4th MF in a few weeks time if anyone catches the eye.

Either way, I'm substantially more confident with my team post-WC. :D

Wildcard played and this is what I've got now. I've sacrificed higher priced defenders to allow a strong midfield and the Tev/Torres/RVP combo up front.

I'd appreciate any input for changes in my back line or indeed anywhere else. Despite his good performance so far I'm a little uncomfortable with Nolan in my team, wondering if there might be a better option, I feel I'm a little West ham heavy.

Are ye not worried that Aguero is going to be back playing 90 minutes or close to it in a few weeks and will become the must have again? That will mean a bit of reshaping for post WC teams that need to do Tevez out, Aguero in. I'm trying to leave the 1.5 in the bank for this scenario. We need to remember just how lethal he can be.

would still prefer tevez over aguero (when both are on form and starters)

you would be basically paying the extra 1.5+ for penalty duties

the only thing stopping me from putting in Torres, is that i don't want to double up on Chelsea attackers.

    that might be stupid.

Berba for me at the moment, along with RVP and Tevez.

Yeah me too, i like to diversify and pickk the person most likely in each team to get points. So RVP for utd, Tevez for citeh, michu for Swansea (and hence no Graham for me), carzola for aresenal and hazard for chelsea.

Looking at my WC team with Torres in it, it just seems off-balance and i don't want to have a cheap 4th midfielder - at present that spot goes to Pienaar.

I'd rather Pienaar & Berbatov than Guthrie & Torres

Any thoughts on this WC team:

    Jussi Jask & Begovic

    Cuellar Hangeland Demel Rafael Rangel

    Pienaar Sterling Michu Hazard Corzola

    Tevez RVP Berbatov (or Ba?)

Not understanding all the Pienaar love at all, its a temporary upswing and won't last IMO.

I'm actually hoping Torres, RvP and Tevez do become the unbeatable forward line. An awful lot of people have played their wildcard and only have 2 of the 3 so it'd help those of us who haven't if all three got high points for the next few weeks.

It'd be very hard for those with their wildcard played to work, for example, Torres into their team without taking a few points hits.

I've made a few changes to the defence.

    a good team.

IMO, you're a little vulnerable as you're fairly reliant on Arsenal, City and Chelsea in attack.

it's not so bad this week, but you'll probably have to work out a way to spread your attack around more teams as the weeks go on.

not having any Utd attacker this weekend could bite you.

but as I say, it is a solid enough team.

Looking at using my wildcard now and came up with this:

    ScreenShot2012-09-14at144811.png

Out: Federici, Lescott, Fabio, Mariappa & Pienaar
In: Jaaskelainen, Rangel, Figueroa, Demel & Santi Cazorla

Any opinions? Still unsure about the defense.

RMT please in the middle of playing my Wildcard happy enough with the attack and midfield. Think the defence can be improved but not sure for who..

Downgrade Lallana to a 4.5m midfielder as your other 4 midfielders are good enough to start nearly every week.

Then with the 1.5m you save from that upgrade Ruddy and Figueroa.

You could also just change Ruddy to Begovic who is also 4.5m and use the 1.5m upgrading Figueroa.

I played my wildcard last week. This is what I have at the moment.

    Any thoughts?

    0.5 in the bank.

Oh yea and I wasn't able to get on the internet to capitalise on RVP's price rise. That, the De Gea disaster and a few other decisions that went badly forced my hand.

    where's J.R.??

    :D

your team looks very good, except maybe Berbatov?!!! Have you not got an extra 0.1 to change to Fletcher, i think he'd be a much safer bet, and if not even Lambert he'd give you a bit extra to strengthen elsewhere

Edit oh right 0.5 in the bank! If that was me i'd go Fletcher and use the remainder tyo upgrade Demel to a 4.5 def.

3 west ham players? Two in defence?

Also Wilkinson - he isn't reliable enough. Doesnt start every game and is injury prone. I would switch him for someone else..

I was tempted to put JR in but I couldn't do it. Last year was such an emotional rollercoaster that it took me months to recover :P.

Yea I wasn't fully convinced on Berba. If in a few weeks time he's firing on all cylinders then he's definitely going in.

Graham wasn't cutting it for me so it's probably between Fletcher and Lambert.

Don't know which to pick. Have the money for Fletcher but the extra cash with Lambert could be handy.

Lambert is a real quality player. He's got some decent points on the board already and that they were against the two Manchester sides is impressive. Fletcher is quality too. Lone striker in a team with a much-improved attacking threat and a double gw to come somewhere too. I'm torn myself which to pick when i more than likely transfer Graham out next week

This is my Wildcard team. I've decided I'm not paying so much for Van Persie so I can bulk up elsewhere.

    GlnXr.png
    Schwarzer
    Rafael...Mertesacker...Demel
    Michu...Kagawa...Hazard...Cazorla
    Torres...Podolski...Tevez

    Subs: Jaaskeleinen, Kacanikilc, Cuellar, Clark

Thats a good team but heres my opinion

1.I still think petric is a better option to berbatov

2.you spread need to around where your buying your cheapies,I would try and get a westbrom defender in /McAuley or ridgewell ,you could downdrade hangeland for hughes and replace wilkinson with ridgewell, wigan look like they have turned a corner and figeroua has an eye for goal
